Today while I was filling up with gas, I noticed a puddle at my feet! I was using one of those no spill cuffs (I forgot what its called). I stopped and when I pulled the nozzel out of the tank there was a lot of pressure released ( sounds like Psssstt). Do you think it was the pressure over flowing the carburator or something else??

I drove the dog home, everything seemed fine (no big fire ball), I thought I was going to bust out in flames!

Last two times filling up at a Hess station (different ones) the gas handle does "NOT" stop filling when gas is near the top. :bang:
I always fill the tank going "slow" not full blast. Well needless to say gas comes out all over the tank, down the coil cover and onto the primary then onto the ground. Really pisses me off.

I too thought I was about to see my bike become a fire ball.

Dosen't happen with any other gas station so no more Hess for me unless I'm on reserve and "no" other stations around.

If the cuff was tight enough around the tank fill hole the tank most probably could not release the displaced air in the tank. When raising the nozzle the air bubble gushed upward spilling gas with it.

McCuff won't work with the paint saver ring on our Dogs' tank....this has been admitted by their customer service.
I bought one, tried it (to no avail), and gave it away to my friend who rides a Harley.

Sh**, yeah it's one of those McCuff's. The gas was coming out the carburetor/air cleaner because of the pressure, anyway Thanks K9 anniv, I'm giving mine away too.

No issues here in Washington State, our automatic shut-offs seem to work pretty well at most of the Shell stations I use. I still fill both bikes slow just in case...:2thumbs:
