There's a bunch of us "Hog and Dog" owners on here. We just like to ride.
:2thumbs: Which is probably what some of these bitter HD owners wish they could be. All I know is, when I wake up in the morning I'm not thinking about riding my Springer, and that's not a knock on my Harley either. There's just no substitute for the look, ride and power of my choppa.:whoop:

Same here brother. HD shops cant stand me coming in there for parts. And you're right it is a jealousy thing. A few weeks ago I went to a HD event at a dealership and received a very mixed welcome. When I pulled in, and the only thing everyone could hear was my bike and heads were turning. Looking at the crowd gathered watching all the bikes pull in, I noticed many of the guys acted like they could care less and was mocking me. :job: I let it go and hit the throttle a few times, parked my bike, and got off to get a brew. Sipping on by beer I looked around the corner to see how the dog was doing only to notice a crowd around my bike. Closet Jealousy! :loony:

Moral of the story is to take this as a compliment. If people arent hating on you, chances are your bike isnt really all that!

All I can say is who cares...we have the baddest bikes around. Ive been stationed in Louisana, Hawaii and Texas with my 2002 Big Dog Bulldog and all I ever get are looks, people rolling down there windows and yelling nice bike or thumps up, even from HD riders pulling up next to me. In Hawaii I would ride with my friend who has a badass looking vrod but the tourists would ask to take pics of my bike. Plus the sound with my Martin Bros pipes is just plain sick..people love it! What the HD riders hate is they spent big money on their bike but have to spend thousands more to make the bike different then the other HDs..our bikes already come #badass!!

Ya'll make me laugh!
Even though I have pondered the exact same question in my own mind which lead me to form my own riding club and it still has only "one" member that would be "Me"! It works out even better than I ever thought it would too! "Me" as the only member makes the rules up as I go on any given day! I ride when and where I want too. I stop when my butt starts hurting and refuel usually :D. I ride as fast or slow as I please. I speak to everyone on any and every make of motorcycle. Some speak, some don't, some stick there noses up in the air like a dog smelling a fart from a distance. Some folks like to look at the ole scooter, while some look at me azz-i-nine too. I personally know several people in different riding establishments and they all know I have a phone but the only group that I ever get a call from is the one my daughter rides in (Rough Necks) and the Patriot Guard (emails). I shun no one but if they don't like my ole scooter or me for any of a number of reasons they can not, nor will they ever be a member of my own personal motorcycle club of one! Maybe it is because I have not shaved in almost a year ! :eek:It parts on both sides of my helmet and flaps in the wind! :2thumbs:

It sounds like immaturity on their part. I'm on my 2nd Dog. Never owned a Harley. Sometimes I get the same feeling when I stop at the local bike night. I really am not a huge socializer so I don't really care.

I went on a CVMA ride (combat vets motorcycle association) ride one time, being one of only two choppers out of probably 160 bikes...The lead guy made a comment in front of everyone that the choppers would be the first to break down and everyone laughed. Being that it was my first time to the group, I didn't miss a beat and said, "yeah? I'll race you to the break down site, lets see who gets there faster". Everyone laughed even harder and then gave the obligatory "well he's fuckin right" head tilt. Every harley rider will give you shit simply because they "live to ride", but they also look like every other bike on the road, and sound like every other bike on the road, and spend 4 times as much as they should on every leather piece of "HD" apparel they have. Don't let it bother you, your bike kicks much more ass, and wasn't built in india. (no offense india, you have great "dell" tech support, but I take my flag seriously)

I was in a Harley dealership picking up some parts for my Mastiff. One of the salesmen walked up and asked if I needed help? I told him why I was there and we started bullshitting about bikes. I told him how I was amazed at how easy Harleys were to ride, very docile. THAT was a mistake, the salesman's reply was "Please, don't refer to Harleys as docile, they are anything but docile". I cracked up and said, "I guess you've never ridden a Big Dog?".
Seriously, true story, I still crack up when I think about the look on his face when I said "docile", I thought I was paying him a compliment?

Like the song goes, "You're lookin for love in all the wrong places". Pure jealousy. Like getting a room full of women together. One of them will call a complete stranger a slut just because she's jealous. After that, it's my job to see if she truly is a slut or not.

I swapped up with one of my good buddies for a couple miles on a trip. He wanted to feel the big dog power and I road my first ever stock HD a 2011 road king. ... I'm going to agree with the docile comment. His RK is a beautiful bike and I'd ride one anytime, but I'm not trading my dog for it. He LOVED the BD by the way.

I just had a few HD guys checking out my bike the other night at a bar where a lot of bikers hang out. Must have been at least 30 bikes there (all HD's) and mine was the only bike (that I seen) people were doin a walk by on. The guys were cool and had a few questions about how my K9 rides and handles.

They are jealous! When I have one of them running I get all kinds of looks and thumbs up! I love both of my fat tire bikes. More now because the fads are baggers, and rat rods. Makes me enjoy it more now

Everybody has an opinion...
I have started a few riding groups, seen 'em come and go... (all bikes wlecome: Big Bear Chopper, Iron Horse, Big Dog, Harley, Special Construction and more...) I can tell you there will always be some sort of conflict; it is unavoidable...

... and perhaps I am reading in between the lines here...

The Issue:

1) Do you want to be "luved"/accepted/ride/hang/be friends with them?

a) Do you think the problem is your bike is a Big Dog?

b) Do you think the problem is all of "them"?

c) Do you think the problem could be a misperception of "you"? (e.g. trying to Lead, demand Respect, want others to follow...?)

Perhaps look at what you have control over and can change and put the best version out there of each.

Better to win over one at a time; then go for the group if that is what you want...

Please disregard if this is just one of those rant & rave threads and things are just fine as is... This is not an attack on anyone personaly or anyone else or group or bike manufacturer or action taken or not taken -- just an opinion.

PS:
I have not felt the "unloved" part here in SoCal;
never rode in the UK.
Fat what's new man? Been awhile obviously been dealing with a few bike issues but one day will ride with you all! Cruising up to San Bernardino tomorrow to get some mods done on the bbc... Will take some pics if the new big bear facility
