I was looking for a little more attitude with my nightrain, and I recently had 14in carlinis gangster apes installed...before and after pics. In hind sight, I probably could have went with 16s.

I've got 18 in Chubbys on mine...


You made a good choice. I don't think you need to go bigger. The Night Train is looking good!:up: Love the Black.

I wish I had more money.
I bought the 18's for mine but haven't put them on yet. I am a little nervous about the 18's. I sat on a bike that had the 18's on it and the seemed a little not loose but flimsy? Like a big laver tht would be easy to strip maybe. I do want to put them on. Maybe this summer.

Its very close to what I'm going to do to my FXSTC ...I will post pictures when I'm done but I have been super busy at work and home remodeling ..Did you do the cables your self and wire extending? if not do you mind telling us how much it cost? If you did the work your self where did you order the parts??? Hears a snap of my 95...will look a lot different if I ever get time to work on it....

There's no doubt the dealer jacked me up on the price...all said and done, it cost over $1300, and that does not include the carlini apes. I had to order it myself, which cost about $490 ($40 for shipping). They quoted me a total of 8 hours for labor (89.99/hour), and supposedly because I wanted the small wires threaded into the handle bars that takes longer. If you need to specifics let me know, I have an itemized invoice at home.

If you have the correct bushings on there, they shouldn't feel loose and flimsy...with that said, 18s will obviously give you less feel than 14s or 16s.

Like Dave said - I like the Black Gangster Apes so much that I put the 1.5"x16" on my Road King (and a new riser) :cheers:

...don't think I've ever seen a chic hanging the apes :2thumbs:

Thanks cutter! Mine are also 1.5 risers...my next step will be to powder coat the risers and forks to give it a more even look.
