Extension cord ?

Will it screw something up if i use an extension cord on my battery tender? My garage outlets are not where i park the bike and as much riding as i am doing i'm too lazy to take the battery out everyday I think the instructions say's not too.I would just like to know if any of you do this.Thanks Rob..

Mine stays on an extension cord. Matter of fact both of them that I use are on retractable extension cords. I am sure if you use a standard size outdoor extension cord or bigger you should be fine.

Tender doesn't draw that much current. Charger however, is another story depending on what size charger you have.
But the "shorter" the cord and the "larger" the "AWG"/wire gage, the better!
So...

Use a quality one

As long as it is a good quality extension cord With grounding style plug you will have no problem.

The 25' extension for the battery tender is only carrying .75 (Jr) to 1.25 (Plus) amps at 12vdc whereas if you use an extension cord from the wall before the tender it's 120vac so I would think it's better for your tender and battery to use the deltran extension cord for the output then one for the wall outlet. I use the regular extension cord like most people though and it's been fine.

It may be safer from a fire stand point but I'm not grasping the difference between plugging it into the wall or with an extension cord. The source is miles and miles away. 15 feet isn't going to make a damn bit of difference. In fact I would prefer the rectifier be as close to the battery as possible. It's alot easier to carry 120 volts 15 feet than it is 12. It doesn't matter...end of story. LOL

I put mine on the tender whenever it's not being ridden. Have gotten as much as 8 years out of a battery :2thumbs:

I use one of those cheap white extension cords from the hardware store, never had a problem.
