Extended Warranties

I thought this subject was on this forum, but must be on the other.
My question is, "have any of you purchased an extended warranty?" If so, would you share the info on what it cost, and what was the terms or length of coverage?

My dealer has quoted me a price for an extention, but it is for four years, nothing less.

Thanks for your help.

The extended warrentee is from a 3rd party. I opted out of that but you still can get it as long as your bike i under warrenty. 1500 for 4 years now or spend the $ when you need it. I'd go for the latter.

The catch and downfall is its not a factory backed warrenty. Its some 3rd party company that wants your money and not pay out to actually fix things.

I purchased a after market warranty for 5 years and $1600. I only did it because the original price was $2100 and they claim you get road side assistance, fuel if you run out of gas and I knew nothing about these bikes. It has been 2 months and I'm still waiting on the paper work to read through it. The contract says they have 2 months to get it to you.

I probably will cancel the extended warranty if you can like the extended warranty on a car. I have 1500 miles on my bike and I have MOD FEVER. I'm sure the extra warranty would be voided anyway.

I haven't used my AAA Gold plus RV on the dog yet either... I would rather pay it and not use it then need it and not have it!

Yoou have to be really careful with aftermarket warranties. I've seen several companies that went out of business and then what...your stuck holding the bag..
The warranty companies are difficult at best to work with and some dealerships want you to pay the bill and collect the money yourself from the warranty, I'd find out before buying one if the place I took my bike would accept the warranty...
If you read the fine print on most of them they don't cover seals or damage resulting from seals (usually it's a seal that causes alot of internal damages), they don't cover electrical problems, which is ignition modules, EHC's etc. The only thing they're really good for is if you put a rod thru the case..
The only one that not a complete hassle to deal with is XtremeGard, the rest of them act like your asking them to pay for the claim with their paycheck. I wouldn't suggest buying one...

That's who I have, got it thru my dealer. No hassel at all, the dealer takes care of all of it when you need service, you don't have to do a thing including paying for the work.

Don't think its BD, but the dealer and the insurance company. BD did their part for 2 years as stated in the original warranty. Your complaint should be with the dealer and his insurance company

There was someone this past summer that posted a problem they had with XtremeGard. They had an 05 with TP rocker boxes and the rear exhaust valve broke which took out the motor. They would not cover it because they said the problem was caused by wear in the valve guide. Their fine print does not cover problems caused by wear. I can not remember who it was that had the problem.

I also have Xtreme Gard. Paid 1450 for three years, but that included all gaskets. The only problem I have had is that only a dealer or service center can do the work. And since I cannot take my bike to either right now for reasons some on here know about, I can't use the warrenty I bought. So, my dog has been pinned up since "damn its been so long I forgot the last time I rode"
