It's not going to hurt anything to remove them. You are going to trade low end power for top end power taking them out. Cutting them in half is your best bet for better performance and sound.

I really like the Martin Bros stuff as well. I'm also curious as to everybody's opinion on their quality/performance/sound. After going thru the "show me your exhausts thread" Some folks had Martin Bros pipes, but I haven't found many opinions on them yet.

My brother has Medustas on his Softail Custom and they sound awesom. His do blue pretty bad and they drag all the time.

i have the martin brothers daisy cutters...i LOVE the look, but not that impressed with anything else...although I have to be honest and tell you that it may have nothing to do with the pipes.

I took the baffles out to make them sound better, but I'm getting LOTs of popping and backfire. A friend told me to weld a large washer to a bolt and bolt it in the same hole that the baffle came out of ... but not that much better, but some.

The other thing is that it's very sluggish...or whatever the technical term is...sputters, acts like it wants to stall on occasion, etc...but think this is more about jetting and tuning than anything else. I live in a small town in southern AZ....and NO ONE knows anything about this bike or how to get it working properly.

Bottom Line: LOVE the look of the pipes, but having problems.

I know several here have mentioned cutting baffles in half or installing big city thunder baffles. That will help some, while still allowing a good bit of sound.

on the sputtering - that does sound like a jetting/tuning issue. Try taking a look in the how-to section. There is some good info & pics on jetting / tuning on there.
