EVO Cam-Carb UPGRADE

Just going through my wish list for the new year and thought I would throw this out for suggestions ? I'm going to throw away the carb on the 91 FLT and replace it with a S&S E that was bought on this site :up: the question up for discussion is what cam/lifter combo should I run in this 80ci v-twin. There are so many choices??? I'm not looking for a screamer "have that already" I just want more torque and better all around driveability for two up riding .....so there you go , I'm sure some of you have done this or know of someone who has ...I'm going to do the work myself and if it goes well the EPA cam in the 117 will be next!

Take your EPA cam out and stick it in the Harley. It will wake up the 80ci.

Yes, the EPA cam has real good #'s for the 80" EVO. Nice low duration for low end torque. I've got about 4 of those cams. I've been trying to get buddies to throw one in there old EVO.

I have to disagree with using the S&S 546 cam in an 80" Evo.
The late intake close of 55 degrees,means you would need to put some big compression in the engine to get it to perform.
An Andrews EV 27,or a Crane 310 will give you just what you're looking for.
S&S E carb should work good with the proper exhaust.

Thanks for the advice looking and searching on line these cams do seem popular:up: :up: How about lifters ? any ideas -lifter blocks? John ...you seem to really know what your talking about .. How about for the BD is the 600 cam for the 117 the best choice for all around blasting/ long distance ..riding ?

Scubaman,
Stock Harley lifters(not Screamin Eagle)are the best money can buy.Stock lifter blocks,or Jim's if you want billet.
The S&S .600 cam works well if you're not looking to win dyno shootouts.A good,inexpensive,all around cam for S&S motors,with no p.m.s.

Great .... just got my "new" used S&S E in the mail tonight from
05ridgeback :up: great buy with intake and cleaner backing plate and it looks dam near new !! Just have to gather up a cam some lifter blocks a bit of Hardware ,bolts ect and a good used exhaust system for the bagger .....off to e-bay :lol: :lol: Thanks
