Have had what I consider louder then normal valve train noise for some time. Adjusted several times, seemed to help but never was quit satisfied with the extent of the noise. One other problem I've been having was cycle walking with clutch engaged. Adjusted several times, finely pulled the primary cover and found to have a loose clutch hub nut. Now the amazing thing is when I took the cycle for a test ride, not only was the bike shifting great, and finding neutral was a breeze, but what I thought was valve train noise or piston slap, was the the clutch being loose probably moving around transmitting the sound throughout the engine, engine still makes a bit of noise, but no where near the sound it was making before the clutch nut tightening.
Moral of the story, if you have what sounds like valve train noise and clutch problems, check the clutch hub nut, might help both.
