Estimating repairs for insurance

As most of y'all know I hit a deer with my K9 about 2 months ago.
Well, I finally called the insurance company today and they tell me that they don't send adjusters out for motorcycles. They are requesting that I get them an estimate for repair.

Long story short, I have no idea who to take the bike to for an estimate. I'm 90% positive they will be totaling the bike.

Does anybody have any recommendations around Springfield, Mo?
Is it possible to get a reasonably good estimate from pictures?

I'd ask Shannon to come by and work something up, but he's 2 hours away and honestly, if the bike is totaled, depending on the buy back cost, there may not be any work to be had.

I can't recommended anyone in your area, but I did go through this back in april with an 09 softail that was totaled. I had the bike taken to an independent shop that I deal with. In their opinion, it was totaled. The insurance adjuster (geico) came by, agreed, and cut me a check. My bike was not a harley frame, it was a custom build, the reason I went to an independent shop. When it comes to a dollar figure, these custom bikes are in a world of their own. We are lucky that nada puts a $ figure on them, but it's never close to what I think their worth. Maybe you will luck out like I did. I gave 5k for the softail (that's another story) and the insurance company gave me $19500 for it.

Depending on what you want to do, we can do an estimate on some of it, so they don't total it, then work out a deal on doing the rest of it out of pocket. I know you want to make some changes when you bought it, and that would have come out of you pocket anyway. Give me a call.

Ask who does the most expensive work in town and take it there. Then after the insurance company agrees to repairs tell them you want to buy it, then you can start haggling. Once complete you can take it Shannon for a rebuild

The other side of that coin is when we met, I was in good physical condition, getting ready to go back to work. 3 months off the road hurts financially. So right now, the bike isn't looking like it's going to be a fast tracked project. You will surely be at the top of my call list when the real work begins, but, as for now, if she attracts dust for a while, at least she's at home.

:hi: Had forgotten about you getting A F U ( all f'd up) Shain! Take care of the important things first, like getting back on your feet, then worry about getting back on the bike. The bike can be fixed or replaced.:yesnod:
You, not so much!:nonod: Stay safe buddy.:old2:

Could you tell us the name of the insurance company who insures custom bikes and will not even send out an adjuster to settle a claim. I would like to know so that if I happen to have their insurance I could drop them like a hot rock.

I have State Farm. They aren't being difficult. The way they explained it to me is that with cars there is software available to run the estimate on. However, this type of software isn't available for our bikes.
They have offered to pay & arrange for the towing to the shop I choose for the estimate & have no issue even paying for the a fee for the estimate. So far, I really have no issue with them. I reported the accident 2 months after it happened & they haven't batted an eye yet.

Who you gonna go with after they cancel (or not renew)? They will pay now, but later you'll be needing insurance again.

My insurance company sent out an adjuster from 2-1/2 hours away (because they didn't have a motorcycle specialist in my city). He asked me if I knew where to get some replacement parts, so I told him where to get the replacement parts (like Baker for the primary cover). He sat in the driveway for 2 hours on his laptop searching ebay, www.wildsteedworx.com and the rest of the places I told him about. Then he emailed his report in to his office and they put a check in the mail the same day.

Well, since this is the first claim love had in over 15 years, and With everything I've heard about deer strikes, I don't foresee an issue. If they do cancel me, I can always go back to Allstate. They've been nearly begging for me to return.
