Engine Temps..

Does anyone else have issues with there engine throwing off a ton of heat.. My 08 mastiff seems to run pretty warm in town.. To the point where my right leg that is fairly close to the top of rocker boxes seems like it's almost burning.. Really drives me crazy.. Any cures out there or is my bike just running hotter than most.. Any ideas??

Have you checked your plugs and read them? Are you running lean?

Had it dyno tuned last year after pipes and air cleaner.. But no I have not checked plugs.. Will have to do that..

back cylinder always runs hotter because of less air flow around it. as stated above, running a little rich will cool it off some, but don't go overboard.

Take a temperature of your rocker box after a good warm up and ride. I'll take mine and then you will have some numbers if you care to compare. Yes, it will be warm especially just sitting there at a light but not extremely hot.

It will take me some time because I am riding my other neglected bikes right now. It should not be as warm as sitting on top of a Daytona 675 exhaust running right under you seated area that is for sure.

Sounds about right, I wouldn't advise doing that anyway...
I have an Arlen Ness oil pressure gauge mounted on my rear box and you cant hold it bare handed when it's at temp!

Mine is the same. Runs damn hot. I did check both plugs they are dark black.
I'll be installing oil cooler on mine, I Just want to make my engine last and LAST.

an oil cooler requires air flow to be effective as well, it's just the nature of the beast, probably the number one complaint of Harley owners, particularly new owners. Would not be suprised to see water cooled models before to long.
