Engine Run/kill switch problem

I've had intermittent problems with the starter switch, and traced the problem back to the engine run/kill switch. I have to hit the run switch multiple times before the starter switch will function. Usually, I can hear the relay firing and the starter switch will work fine form there on.

I pulled the cover off, and cleaned the contacts on each of the wires but that didn't seem to help. I'm thinking the problem could be on the board itself. Anyone else have an issue similar to this? Did you simply replace the circuit board, and if so what was the part number?

Thanks.

Oh, it's an 08 K9. I haven't been able to find a service manuals or parts catalog and in this economy it's hard to justify $100+ for a book right now.

The hand controls are a 5 volt system using a GROUND level active signal from the buttons. This means when you press a button the signal to the EHC is GROUNDED telling the EHC the button is actively being pressed.

Could be the membrane dome on the handlebar button PCB is cracked or dirty or has a poor connection.
