There are still some unanswered questions from earlier posts.

I don't have the PDM wire diagram to work with at this time. Can you post a good picture of one.

It could indicate that the LED isn't being completely turned OFF. 5k to 10k 1/4w pull-up resistor from the LED signal wire to +5v power.

12 ma is nothing as far as power. That minor amount of current shouldn't drain your battery in 3 days.

A short (high current) would be much more than the little 12ma if it is a short circuit connection.
A high resistance short (low current) due to corrosion contact could be possible.

I'll scan sections of the wire diagram tonight.
but that 12.5 mA is the only power draw not per spec in the manual.
I get 2.5 mA draw from the circuit that keeps the brain alive (draws .5 Amps when first connected but after cycling a pump or some other thing, it settles down to 2.5mA).
None of the other wires show any current when the bike is off.

Is this any different than the the "dim" check engine and low fuel lights that we had on the wire plus install on the efi bikes?

Hey Paul,

I'm sure it's the same issue causing the dim check engine LED.

The dim glowing check engine LED is easier to correct than the glowing Low Fuel LED, as we know.

I thought I would share the "sort of" final answer on this problem.
It turns out the wiring diagram was wrong- it showed the low fuel relay being connected to the battery power. BDPP finally sent me a new relay and instructions to wire it to a switched power source. and low and behold my battery drain problem is no more.
However- over the course of time, my low fuel indicator light became just stuck on brightly. Nothing changed after I installed the new relay. Over the past two months, the low fuel light just sort of comes on when it feels like it. It might stay on for 3 minutes, or it might stay on for 3 weeks. And my engine light still glows (never did get a "pull up resistor" from BDPP).
I'm shoping for a new fuel level sensor unit. If anyone knows a part number or manufacturer, please pass that info along to me.

Hey BigDogBro1- what did you end up doing to correct the dim check engine light? I still have that problem. I've installed a variety of resistors inline but the light still glows. What did you do?

The resistors do not go inline (series) in the circuit. The resistor is a T-TAP from the logic control signal to the LED control signal power source (5 volts?).
I think that the engine light led circuit will need a 10K? ohm resistor pull-up to the logic power source (5v)? This will increase the voltage higher on the control signal side of the LED diode to cut out the dim glow. Can't recall which side to place the pull-up on...either the cathode or the anode side of the LED circuit. I would need to look at the wiring diagram for the LED signal.

Here is an 2007 EFI wiring diagram that shows where a pull-up resistor could go. I would guess that the signal output control (IC chip) is what is called an OPEN COLLECTOR type.
The resistor can be a 1/4 watt size and can go to the same wires but actually located down near the EHC harness connector area.
Try temporarily adding a 10k resistor with jumpers and pricking thru the wire insulation for a test connection.
If it still glows the resistor value may need to be reduced to a 4.7k or a 2k ohm value. Don't go any lower in value or the EHC could get damaged.

When the "J" wire signal goes low it will turn on the LED. When the signal goes high (5v) the LED should go OFF. What's happening is that the signal is not going HIGH enough to match the RED-PWR (5v) to completely turn OFF the LED allowing a slight glow. Adding a pull-up resistor will help bring the signal to a higher voltage and reduce the glow or completely turn OFF the LED.

The one wire tee connection to RED-PWR (near the "H" label) seems to be missing the BLACK DOT from BDM in the diagram.

HOPE THIS HELPS. We have never had this problem as we are running BDM EHCs.
