Engine cutting out

Ok, new problem. A little hard to describe; but, I'll try. Happened twice so far, engine not hot; but, warm. Start it up, starts fine, idles fine. Pull out on the road and accelerate moderate hard, not balls out. Engine coughs, sputters and quits like I've forgotten to turn on the gas valve. But, both times, I've been able to restart even before I stop rolling and accelerate up to speed easy (not hard) no problem. Then after less than a mile, I can get into her with a moderate hard or even a hard acceleration and everything is normal, no problems!

I was thinking sticking gas cap vent? Sticking float? Water in tank?

I looked at the gas cap. I can suck in through the hole on the bottom; but, blowing out through the hole seems to be blocked. Maybe not entirely; but, harder than sucking in for sure? Is this the way it's supposed to work?

I cut my ride short today for fear of her quitting on me far from home. Any ideas?

How old is the gas or did you fill up recently? I rode home from work one day and filled the tank at a local gas station. Filled my tank with watered down gas. Bike started back firing and wanting to cut out. It did cut out a few times but would start up. I ended up draining my tank and fuel bowl. Just a thought.

Well I checked the plugs. They were not fouled. But they could have cleaned themselves up on the way home after it started running OK.

Also, on the jets. I don't think it's something like that because this is a problem that wasn't there yesterday and is there today! The jets have always been the same even before the problem.

I will say this though. I used to have a "jumpy" tach; but, it went away. It's back again. At higher rpm, for example just before a shift, I sometimes see the tach hop all over the place? I wonder if this is signaling some kind of other problem. Maybe I'll clean the contacts on the pick-ups today just for the hell of it.

You're not using the enrichenor (some think its a choke) during start up.
