Wonder what axel did when he built the EHC?
I would think that the folks that manufacter the components are aware of the potential issues, and have implemented sufficient safeguards and procedures.
Many members choose to do their own work, it is at this point that I would suspect most incidents occur.
Unpacking, handling, and installation have historically been the times when the components were improperly handled, not due to negligence as much as not being aware the potential for damage exists.

So I always read this static bag shit...but I've built computers and had my fingers over any board I've touched hard-drive, processors, etc and I've never had a single issue. I actually use to be extra careful until I realized I just never had an issue. So I'll touch the board wherever now but just be gentle not to break

Not saying that it's not true...I just never had an issue. And I know the semiconductor companies take it seriously so it's a real thing. Maybe it's more potential in higher priced more precise equipment? I don't know

Now I know someone who worked at a semi conductor plant and they had antistatic rooms and cleaning stations wirh suits and yadda yadda.
