Electronic Compression release help

Heres my once a year post :)
Put a compression tester on the cylinder, remove the green wire on the starter and hit the start button, if the compression releases are working you will see the drop on the gauge.
I'll be wiring mine like moes in the am...just good sense:)

Before you go ripping out the CR's, which I think is a bit of a hassle, just test them. Cut the wires as I said earlier and jump them to the battery hot and ground, and listen for the click. Take the tank off if you do change them, you'll have fits trying to get them out otherwise.

Was reading thru this post cuz I have a hard starting 2007 K-9 in this thread:

http://www.bigdogbiker.com/forums/help-wanted/33750-07-k-9-tries-start-but-wont-turn-over.html

which I think seems to have a problem starting against the Compression of the 117 cuz it turns over fine with the Spark Plugs pulled. Up till this weekend many suggestions were along the line that the original battery was the problem, so I bought a POS new TruGel that ended up bad from factory (which had to be replaced with another new one) and now the new replacement TruGel seems to have the same intermittant problem starting the K-9 with 117 engine that the original battery had.

My question is, can you have electronic Compression Releases, which seem to test OK (feel the plunger go down on both when Start button pressed and Greeen wire to Starter removed...) but is there a case where the plungers can feel like they are working BUT, the Compression is not actually Released?? I seemed to get that implication in this thread, and that may be my problem that when the CR's actually really work all the way and release the Compression in the cylinder, my K-9 turns over and starts right up. Then all of the other times when it fails, it will lock up before even turning over... Get the big CLICK/CLUNK Lockup and the Lights Flash (like indicating a poor battery).

Does this happen with the CR's? Do I need to 'Clean' mine out with some sort of cleaning/Lube?? Is it as simple as just pulling the Cover/Condom off and spraying the Lube/cleaner down into the actuator/plunger and letting it work thru?

Thanks? Sorry for interjecting into your thread but I am looking for why my K-9 seems to Intermittantly Start fine, then other times just Lock-up on the first crank!

Thanks Moespeed. I plan to check and make sure that their working as RRRuff described and then I may just rewire them like you drescribed unless I find a broken wire or loose connection. I also have a WP wirring EHC replacement installed on my bike, so the bike no longer uses the run button. I just turn the key on (which is their upgraded ignition switch also) and hit the start button. Do you think that has anything to do with why the CR's aren't working. I plan to start tracing the problem down Thursday and I'll let everyone know what I find or don't find. Thanks again for all the input.
You have the wire plus and your run button doesnt work? With the wireplus upgrade that is an item which should work unless they wired the ignition directly into battery. Seems a bit unusual to do that though.:loony:

Has the problem only shown its ugly head after the WP install? I'm just wondering if there is another issue that might need to be worked on.

Where can I get a schematic for '07 K 9. Someone ran jump wires up to an auxiliary starter switch. The unplugged the starter and hooked up jump wire to switch then down to harness. It worked. But I rebuilt the starter, now I don't have power in the harness going to aux switch. & it's not charging the battery if I jump a power line to aux switch to start when running. The person I bought it from said he did this because starter relay went out. I want to put it back correctly. Am not big on southern engineering. Haha. Can anyone help?
