Riding bike around 65mph, and it cuts off. Turn switch off then back on (still rolling- and it starts. About mile further, happened again and once again started back. It happens third time and would not start. Got stopped on side of road and when I hit start button, the starter hung. Pulled wires from battery to stop. However, now when I place cables on battery, it tries to start, all lights are on, and with no key in ignition. Speedo also stuck at 65. Anyone ever had anything like this happen? Any help is appreciated. Also I don't have any lights coming on at the ehc.

Just a thought here, I've never seen any other Big Dog than mine, but you might want to check the start module. It is responsible for powering the starter and ignition.

On the other hand, if the starter is jammed, it might also be a mechanical issue with the starter jack-shaft?

Yes, I have had this exact same thing happen on my 2007 K-9. The electrical weirdness happen here and there until the bike started cutting off while on the road.

I replaced the EHC with a WirePlus kit and all the weirdness turned into rock solid reliability. It was a bit of electrical surgery, but I thought it was fun to install.

How much was your wireplus? Where did you get it? And how difficult was the installation ? If you don't mind me asking

update..........

Purchased used EHC and installed. Everything back to normal except it wouldnt fire. Found wire coming from ignition module that was loose at connector. That got it to fire off. Now then with all that being done, the neutral safety now having problems. Bike starts in neutral, but as soon as you put in gear in dies. You dont even have to let off of clutch, it does it the instant you put in gear. I have put jumper on safety switch at top of tranny and now will stay running, but neutral light stays on all the time. Any body else ever have problem with safety switch? thanks for all the help.........

Note to self, don't purchase used EHC!!! Wash windshields at busy intersection and make enough money to purchase Wire Plus.

I didn't know the 2005+ EHC or any late model Bigdog bike had that feature!

I have an 07 Bulldog with that EHC and I can start it in neutral with the clutch pulled in....what's the difference?

Sounds to me like you have a wire making contact to another or something, that's causing the problem.
