Electrical problem... I have a wire plus already installed.

I put in a wire plus on my 04 chopper back in November. It ran great until a couple of days ago...
First the tach started working off and on.
You could cut the bike off and restart it and it would work.
Now, the bike is backfiring, cutting off and on and raising all sorts of hell.
Here is what I know. I have checked all of my connections. they are good.
There is a little square module on the wire plus with a green light. It comes on for about a second when you cut the switch on then goes off.
the thunderheart module ( I think that is what it is) has the red light on constantly. When the issues happen, the red light goes off. It remains off unitl I refire the bike. This is very frustrating and I would pull out my hair if I had any. I was hoping some of you guys had a clue on what the issue is.
I have had it idling and it runs a while then its like you cut the switch off the headlamp and neutral light is still on. Cut the switch off and it will refire.
Please help... any suggestions????

All kinds of crazy things have been going through my mind.
Right now, I think.... key on think.. I could have found the problem.
Like the issue Ray had with his, I found a ground wire that had came loose from the connector.
I am going to repair this and see what happens...
Hopefully, this might be the culprit.
Thanks!
I will post my findings... I hate being stuck on the side of the road.

Well, after riding it a while, the problem does no longer exist. It was a loose wire connection. Man, it makes you feel good to find a definite problem and be able to correct it.
Upon close inspection, the connector I used was not completely formed and it just came apart at the crimp. This allowed the wires to work themselves loose after a period of time. Whew! I'm glad thats fixed!

That's a damn good feeling and even better way to start your weekend! It's the little shit that drives me crazy too. Especially when it's electrical. Glad you got it fixed! I know you are.

After reading your problem I have stated in a few times when you install the wire plus I always soder all the wires in the little poles so then after riding awhile the wires will not come loose and drive you nuts. I have built a few bikes and this seems to take care of problems down the road. Also I like that comment about the timiming sensor. You can call thunder heart tech line and talk to them they helped me a few times good people Thanks Buster

I am glad I found it. This was the last connection that I made when I did the install. It was on the ground wire.... duh... I hate it when that happens.
It was my crimp on the eyelet that grounded to the frame...
Live and learn... I think :D

That ground wire bundle REALLY needs to be soldered, if you don't it will be the weak link in your wire-plus install.

Just saying... I think I told you to check those grounds a while back when you contacted me. :D

Oh... and ground that DIRECTLY to the battery, not the frame or battery box. If you want to ground it to the battery box, add a 10 awg pigtail to run up to the battery. I wouldn't ground to the frame though.

Be sure to check all grounds first. MAKE SURE that the modual is mounted SOLID to ur battery tray...I have to say one thing that's LONGGGG overdue bout Wires Plus.. I also had problems and I gota say for someone as busy as Don has to be,he was there for me and my issues and totally stood behind his part.THAT DOESN'T HAPPEN ANYMORE!! Trust n believe if u don't already know, these Beasts are sum vibrating machines and if everythings not secured tightly ur gona have problems too...
