Electrical Issues or What ????

:hi: Stephen here: It seems like allot of Dogs are having electrical probs huh?? I was over on the intro page started talking about elec. stuff so thought it would be better to post here. Replace a battery simply because it's over 2 yrs. old but still working great?? Allot of talk about battery tenders. i use one but only when the bike is going to be park for a few days and even then the charge lite tuns to green after a few minutes. Yes i know a battery could go without warning at anytime. I wear a helmet in case a meteor falls from the sky on my head. Anyway fellow doggies where do we buy parts?? A little tired of paying what seems to be retail plus 50% ya know what I mean. i have a few probs myself with my 2005 Chopper DT. Foot brake switch stuck on, turn signals don't turn off auto anymore...no biggie, just gremlins. I'm in Ca. and been using Arlin Ness in Dublin which I think is a good shop but there sure as heck ain't no discounting going on there. Oh ya one more thing....how are you all cleaning your bike??? Dry method or wet??

Check you're rear brake light switch, it's attached to the banjo bolt on the rear caliper. It might just need to be cleaned. I use water to clean the wheels and lower parts of the bike, but guy have had problems with water in the handlebar switches so try to keep that stuff dry. Parts are found from some suppliers here, and ebay, JP, etc. Did they still make Daytec bikes in 2005?

RT, daytek and BD frames in 05

probably got a wire from the brake switch worn and grounded keeping it on.

BD also had a upgrade on the handle bar switches that was a no charge deal. You may want to look at recalls and notices to make sure you got them all done for your bike. Handle bar switches do not like water! Theres alos a thread on here showing how to cover the switch boards with silicone!:hi:

Thanks Guys

That switch your refering too on the rear caliper is a brake light switch????? So `what is the switch on the brake pedal??? Hmmmmmmmm ....some head scratching going on. Does anyboby have the 2005 BD chopper DT service manual on CD thats' willing to let me look at it (maybe write all the info down on another cd if you know what I mean) or a written service manual. And yes in 2005 as stated above the chopper came on three frames the BD of course, the RT and the DT. Rumor has it the sales were so good that BD themselves could not keep up with production so they out sourced the frames. Oh yes when I bought the bike in Sept 08 I took it too my nearby BD dealer where they performed 8 recalls at no cost to me one of them being the handle bar switches.

No Reply As to Where to buy Parts???

:hi:

Yo fellow Doggies, A few of you have been kind enough to suggest parts suppliers but how about a address or .com to go with the names?? I'm in Ca. if that makes a difference. Also would like to know if you guys (and gals) are wet washing your bikes or dry washing?? I read a great post on how to adjust the Shorty S&S carb that I'm going to give a try. There is some grat stuff on this site and I'm so glad I stumbled on to it. Thanks to all the motor heads that are posting "how too's" and advice for fixin these dogs. you are all awesome.

God Bless

Stephen

Small world! You must be close to me as I too deal with Arlen Ness in Dubln, and in fact purchased my '05 Chopper from them. Their service people are great, but you do pay for it.

The only parts place I can recommend is for tires. I got mine thru Motoxoutlet, and a friend just bought tires from a place in Sacramento at Throttle Worx - Feed Your Passion and Fuel Your Ride!. My friend got his Avon Cobra 300mm tire for about $232, compared to the $375 that the dealer wanted.

Yep. Got the tire the next day too! About 26 hrs from order to delivery.
They are in Sacramento and I live in Danville by Chopper Jeff.

Still scratching my head...please read

:bang:

Well fellow bikers, Jake from Low Down Choppers emailed me to let me know they ARE NOT a BDM dealer so......????? as far as parts are concerned???? Also wrote WBCycles to order a part but no reply. Am I missing something here????? I was thinking (hoping) that there might be some deals on BD parts somewhere besides paying retail plus?? Then I woke up.......right.? Anybody using synthtic oil out there. Should a 05 Chopper burn a little oil between changes??

I got a reply yesterday from WBCycles so thanks Nelson.....my bad.
