i have a 06 k9, just had a 5k service done and road tripped 180miles. parked bike 4 days later get on ride to work and fine. bike got rained on not alot but a nice little rain for about 30mins. i get on bike 4 hrs after rain is gone the roads are dry. the bike starts fine i get all my gear packed up and when i take off i make it 100' or so and it dies. the speedo starts acting funny. it starts back no problems 100' dies again.this time no speedo or speedo light, no tail or front marker lights, but i have a head light and low oil light is on when motor is not running. wont start like i dont have bike in N or the clutch isnt pulled in. nothing no ignition, or starter even tried to start. got bike in N it starts. ride 4 miles same stuff. the speedo was flickering all around the rpm range and the back light on speedo would come on every so often. all the above is still not working. speedo powers up looks to be coming on line and bam down again. get bike home finally and find out i cant shut bike off from the grip run/off button. had to use key. please tell me im not insane. help

Sounds to me like the connectors on the Ehc got hosed with water, dryem out and fill em with dielectric grease if that don`t fix it get a nother EHC or go wire plus from Jake if you haint got air ride.

Also make sur your hand controls are dryed out. I got caught in rain and it made my oil light come on. Blew out the hand conrols with light air and all was good. :2thumbs:

While you're at it, fill all connections with di electric grease. There's a "how to" on this covering a lot of different connectors on the bike. A lot of our Dogs hate the water and do the strangest shit when wet. :job: But from what you are describing, Rub is right! Water in the EHC is most likely your problem.

Yep, washed mine with the seat off the speedo went nuts the air ride raised lights blinked. All when i turned the key on then i remembered gasman`s thread about the dielectric grease so I stole the ole ladieds hair dryer and after is was dry went to the Harlet shop and got me some grease

here is a up date, got bike started thursday everything was cool, didnt ride it. today bike was doing the same as day before, big dog dealer was leading me in the direction u guys had(water issues). then i found a wiring harness that was damaged rubbed insulation off the shrink wrap and the wire. they where melted together. separated and fix problem up and running good. except for one thing, speedo was reset to zero, the trip was accurate mileage but OD said 000001. other than that it is all running good. did the grease like evryone said while i had it broke down.

I had a similar problem with the speedo after I was caught in the rain twice, really bad down pours both times, rains like hell here sometimes. Speedo read 120 and I was doing about 30. That happened weeks after I was caught in the rain.Take it off of the wiring harness and dry it out. There is a dab of silicone on the connector, you could try removing it, clean the back of the connector and put some new silicone on it. Check the EHC, all connections on the back of it. A little bit of moisture stuck in there will drive electronics crazy. I met someone with a Iron Horse at a gas station and he said he had the same problem if they get wet.
