Electrical Issue

I need advice regarding my download cable located in between the gas tanks on my 03 Mastiff. I recently discovered that a mouse decided to move in and chew on the wire. Do I need this cable or can I just cut it and tape it off? Will this cause a short? If not ,how easy is it to replace?

I would trim it back and put shrink tube on each of the wires and pinch the end off then put one large piece of double wall glue shrink tube over the entire stub to seal it off.
That cable will never do you any service now as no one has the software to access them anymore anyway.
