I have been working with my bike for the past two weeks and so far it has seemed that every time I overcome one hurdle I have another to navigate. So thanks to everyone that has helped thus far…
So my new problem:
I am still popping and backfiring, with no power between 2500-3000 RPM’s. My brother-in-law is the expert but I think I can describe the problem. We have tuned the carb at nausea and conformable at this point that the problem is not a jetting issue because we pulled the plugs and can see that one plug (the front head) looks perfectly normal and the second plug (the back head) is black, fouled, and really smells like gas bad. Assuming that is because one is firing correctly and the other is not. When we tried to check the spark it sure looked like one was firing and the other was not, we switch the plug wires to rule that out, tighten what we could and tried again, both plugs were firing. Took it for a ride; same problem (popping and no power) again. Pulled the plugs and same results (one good plug one bad) Problem is not sure why or what would cause that problem. :bang:
I thought I would ask for some help (AGAIN) online here. We are going to trace the wires, check the voltage, be sure there are no loose connections, and be sure power to the ignition is correct this Wednesday afternoon. Does this sound like the next logical steps? If it is not electrical, any thoughts on what the issue could be? I am thinking maybe a mechanical problem, sticky valve? Anything we are missing? Any suggestions?
