New to the forums and need some help. Ive already searched with no success. I just purchased a 2003 boxer and am having issues with the speedometer working intermittently and the indicators below it (nuetral, oil press, turn signals) dont work. Everything was originally working fine until after i replaced the oil pump and starter. While reconnecting the battery after maintenance i did cause a short across the battery by accidentally slipping and touching the frame with the tool. I am goimg to pull the back off of the lights and make sure they are all properly connected. Question is, is there anything else i could have fried and is there a way to test?

Does the bike start and run? If so there may be a fuse which operates all the lights. The other thing you may want to look at if the bike runs is your voltage regulator as they have a tendency to get damaged with a short. A little trick for reconnecting to a battery is to place the positive side 1st that way if any slips happen you will most likely avoid shorting out anything. hope this helps.

...show me a pic of your speedo; I might have one you need. I bought two non-working and a friend who knows such things fixed them for me. I wanted one for a spare.... the other one I could sell.

Check for power to your dash lights at the EHC, if your wiring is still stock. If there is no power to the dash lights at the EHC then you likely damaged the EHC during the short accident.
If you need a schematic email me @ wsworx@gmail.com.
