Electrical Gremlin

Hi Guys and gals, its been a while since I could pop in and read through the BDB site, I miss that. my new job has my days and the wife gets my nites.
Now I hope this is something you can help me with since my search here did not return the results I had thought.

I will try to explain in short as possible what happened to the bike, thanks in advance. your a great bunch of people.

This is a 06 K9 carbed bike ive owned for approx. 2 years

Last sunday I decided to wash the bike, I always cover/bag the hand controls, speedo, spike air cleaner and the ignition switch/coil cover. hosed it down and proceeded to wash about 2/3rds done and noticed the headlight, front and rear signal lights, speedo were lit up. The key was in my pocket, ignition was in off position. I thought wtf- so I pushed the run/ start button and it cranked over. I didn't not try to start the bike just was curious at that point. so I disconnected the negative side battery in a panic.
I waited about 15 minutes connected the battery, nothing lit up but less than 30 minutes later the lights were back on, so I inserted the key, turned it on and off a few times, jiggling and wiggling the key/switch and everything stayed on with no flickering of the lights. So I left the key on,turned on the fuel, hit start/run and it fired right up as usual. didn't take it out for a run but I put a multi meter on the batt. terminals and all seemed well.
I was thinking ignition switch has to be the gremlin but after reading through what others have had for issues with the ign.switch, I'm now skeptical that the ign. switch is my issue.
I worked all week so I have had O time till now,
If anyone will know what is happening to my bike its you guys, so thanks for reading this wordy post!
Wish you all a great weekend, when this gets resolved i'll be sure to post what the issue was.

Really hope its not EHC ,if so ill do one. my work week is 5-6 days so time is short but the weather here is daily rain anyways lately

I use a garden hose on mine to wash it every time I come back from Daytona to get the salt residue off and use my shop vac to blow it dry. What I don't do is spray it hard at the side covers and I cover the hand controls. I never had any problems washing with the EHC or the ESC units.:whoop::chopper:

I guess itso the luck of the draw.

I just like my Freedom
After reading all the crap about Dogs n water, I sprayed every one of the Dog's PC boards with marine conformal coating. I take her to the car wash. High pressure don't scare my Dog. They got a blow dryer too so thats nice. Every once in a while I will see a faint flicker of the red LED on the annunciator when leaving the car wash. It goes away after a short ride. Now the wheel bearings and water is a different matter.....

Hehehehe well I'm careful washing this bike after joining BDB site and doing some reading, i always bag the important stuff and use the leaf blower to dry it off. Not going to get much of a chance to really look close at the dog this weekend, took my wife out looking at cars today. have to go pick it up tomorrow, we bought a new little Buick SUV. I'll hook the batt. up tomorrow afternoon when i can keep an eye on it I'll check out the EHC, pack it full of dielectric. guess ill end up doing a replacement soon. I'll dig around here and look at what you guys suggest like Doc's, etc. and hey thanks again. Danny
