I got my new ehc from Wild Steeds. Inw issue if someone could help.
It says that the stator wire goes to the copper post on the circuit breaker and then the silver to battery. My old one was opposite. Can someone give me some schooling?

What is stated is correct. In my shop, we get rid of the cb, and install a 30 amp fuse. If your voltage regulator should short out, the circuit breaker will not pop fast enough to keep it from catching on fire.
FYI, you should be upgrading your charging system anyway, if your install a new EHC.

I did. Stator is in new oils in all 3 holes. I was a little confused. On the instructions it says vol reg goes onto the copper stud. My shortstop had the copper to the battery. So I'm figuring I have to switch that like it says on the paper.

A lot of the breakers get wired wrong because of plus symbol on one stud. People think it should go to the battery. But in this case the power flow is from the stator to the battery.
I agree a fuse is better.

Thanks man. Relief. I just wanna put the pup on the pavement . its been tedious work. My Ole man stood over me pointing out everything to make sure I did it right. This was the last step. Ill post you guys up once its growling

I hope you put a new Voltage Regulator on. It seems that was the biggest problem with the EHC burning up. Mr Wright is correct keep the circuit breaker on and wire it like the paper says.

They say “load” and “bat” on them.

The intent is the “load” is the device its protecting and ”bat” is the source.
Ironically in this case the battery is the device being protected for the VR so it’s opposite.


I don’t think it makes a lot of difference frankly. The time to trip in either direction is about the same.

Also the CB’s got a bad rep from BDM, but it reality the VR and ECH was really the issue.

They are used successfully for decades in many other applications

+++++++++++ok gentlemen, Just got the stator wire through, filled the 3 with new oil, gonna go to lunch with the ole lady n her kin. The batteries juiced and all s plugged in. I got the whole pack from Curtis at wild steedz, any hints or guidance before i try in crank the pup up? ( im gidy like a school boy bout to hit first and slide on home).
