EHC

Need assurance that I figured out why I was draining my battery upon start. I checked starter using jumper method and all was good. When hook back up it immediately takes the battery out ! I presume my start relay in the EHC is shorted though I really don't see it going to ground on my meter. I checked the pin A-1 to ground and it shows about 600 kohms to ground. Is this okay ?? Man, I don't want to dish 500.00 buck to BDM for a new EHC if I don't have to. Any help here would be great.

If your ehc is bad go with the wire plus kit.It does away with the ehc.From what I read on here bd is no longer making ehc's and have a kit there making or something like a wire plus.Try using the search tool.perhaps if you did an intro with some info on yourself and what year and model you ride someone can help you a little better.just sayn and welcome to the pound

what year mastiff do you have? i am checking my wiring diagram and cannot find pin A1 anywhere. i have a 2001 mastiff. also if you are reading 600k ohms to ground that is not a short. 600k ohms is a lot of resistance. especially for a 12 v.d.c. control relay. i need some more info on what you have and what exactly you are checking. when you use an ohm meter you need to isolate what you are checking from the rest of the electrical circuitry. you can be reading resistance through any number of electronic components inside the EHC. also regarding the EHC you can buy the EHC from j and p cycles also maybe from dumb ass biker. i have seen the EHC from thunder crap in my j and p cycles catalog.

the thunder heart electronic harness controller kit is $294 in the j and p cycles catalog it is on page 233. the part number is 381-001. you can also try the web site dennis kirk they are less expensive than j and p cycles. you can send me a pm regarding the year of your mastiff and the wiring diagram maybe i can help you further

2006. Pin A-1 is the relay output to the solinoid as I read it from the schematic.
