Not sure if the case is grounded or not for there is a dedicated ground wire running to it. The studs breaking off have been known to occur before and others have ran a zip tie around it to hold in place, also seem to recall that someone put a piece of velcro on the back and the frame and use that.
That said, would think it would be okay if it was only the studs, however, the potting may have got damage and created a problem with some of the circuits or something.
Would recommend before tossing it, that seal the holes with some non-conduction silcon, mount it and then check all the wiring and connectors and see what happens.

I would think that it needs to be grounded. Try grounding it see if it works, if it does solder a wire to the bottom and ground the wire. Good Luck
No bolts to secure it to the battery box but it worked fine. Never had a problem from it so I don't think that your EHC was ever the problem to begin with. NOt because of the bolts being broken off anyway. Sorry I didn't see this thread when you first posted. :bang:
