EHC?

Energy One

Hello all,

I was at the local BD Dealer/Shop (Stroker's Dallas) this past weekend. I walked into the shop and one of the bikes that was being serviced was an '04 BDM Chopper like mine. As I was looking over the bike taking mental notes so I could compare with mine, I noticed that the EHC on this bike was different set up than what I had. Where there is 2 holes in my fender above my EHC where it looks like something used to be mounted there, this bike had some sort of electrical type module. His EHC was in the same location as mine but this one was gold in color, a little larger, and seemed to lay flat as mine is more narrow and is mounted upright. There were BDM markings on this EHC set up, so it appeared as though this is how it came from BDM.
My question is, judging by the pics of my bike, what exactly do I have? original EHC?, updated?, hack job? Also, notice the female connector? what does that plug into? everything works fine on my bike(so far).

Thanks for the help!
Paul

That's the original EHC. BD has an upgraded gold one now but I wuldn't buy it, just search ditch the bitch if you have too.

The other two holes in the fender is for the stock TH ignition module and I assume that is what the connector is for. Where is your ignition module? Pull the nose cone and see if an upgrade is in there.

I have many customers who have 15k + miles on a Big Dog motorcycle with no EHC issues. take care of the EHC, battery tender, battery cables clean, little to no water on EHC or speed o should get ya long life with any EHC!

None of my biz but you ought to clean up those rusty terminals on your breaker. Thats what carrying charge back to your battery

Hey V,
No way man, I appreciate the suggestion. Not being an electrical expert, what is the best way to clean the terminals? Also, when I do this, should I disconnect the battery first?
Thanks!

Not a complainer...I love my dog. I did all that, digrease, heat shrink, waterproofing PCB boards, etc, etc, and I didn't have any problems with my EHC for three years, then I had so many problems I was about ready to sell it. Now I can ride again with confidence, without in my opinion, the weak link in the electrical system. :)
