#1... Turn on ignition key
#2... If everything works, EHC is good.
#3... If anything doesn't work, EHC is bad.

You mean you have to plug a computer in to a bike to find out that the EHC is bad?

Actually I got thinking after I posted that, and I was probably off a bit.
#1... If you have an EHC, it is more than likely bad.
#2... Resort to #1
Or...
#1... If your stranded on the side of the road, EHC is bad.

There are many thousands of Big Dogs with no EHC issues, so this quoted opinion is not a fair statement. Now, you may say "they are not having issues yet" and that still would not be a fair statement.
There are many bikes with over 45,000 miles with no issues, and thousands more over 25,000 miles and no issues.
AND, many issues attributed to the EHC are actually not EHC issues, and still there is another percentage that have bad EHC's caused by the owner.
Now, if one goes bad, it may be ideal to replace it with something that owner feels is a better system.
Just because it is said or written on the Internet, does not make it a fair statement.

Not much to it. Power removed attached the connectors to the EHC tester and then the EHC (order really doesn't matter just make sure power is not plugged in). Plug in power adaptor, flip toggle switch (simulates ignition switch). now you can press the appropriate button and hte light should light if the output is working correctly. That simple. Caviats on this: It will not give you a load like the motorcycles will. If you test it bad on the tester you have a bad EHC. If it test good it is possible it is still a bad EHC when acual loads are applied.

We are an American Iron Service center and years ago this machine that Ironhorse sent us to test the RHC unit was the biggest piece of crap I have ever seen.:bang: Just like the igniter tester we have.:bang::bang: You can hook up a bad unit and it shows good. Hook up a new unit and it shows bad. I think the crazy magic 8 ball is a better way to test. Magic 8 ball is my EHC bad???????:loony::loony::loony:
