Where are you people getting your RIP Kits? GEN 1 or 2? I got mine from Curtis, Wild Steed Worx for my 07 K9 and haven't had a problem. I got some paperwork but every plug was clearly labeled and was really "Plug and Play".

I dont know anything about these RIP kits. IT came on the bike. ALL i know is that I can't get enough voltage to the starter to keep it going. Any help would be appreciated. I went to St. Louis Big dog today the mechanic told me that it is probably something in the RIP as the switch seems to be working..BTW - new PCB set/boards installed by Jim Nasi Customs in June 2016. I'm about to take the bike into Gateway big dog for them to service it. Hate it since I can normal fix crap my self.

I don't get it. Say I buy tail light from blue collar bobber, it cost $96. It comes with a fucking DVD instructions! You can watch the instructions for every part they sell on You Tube before you order anything. And you get dvd when buying their shit.
They save a shitload of time = money not spending hours on phone with customers before and after the purchase.... Also keeping customers happy with good instructions is called customer service.

Here is an example how far they go...

Very true and some of the time they don't get instructions and they don't answer the phone, I would spend more money for better customer service any day every day, I'm with ya on this one :old2::old2:

Thanks for the help!
... just got off the phone with them. As it turns out they forgot to send me the "supplemental" wiring harness for my ignition / coil. I'm actually relieved I wasn't just figuring it out right, and that there was something missing as suspected.
....Did the "supplemental" wiring harness fix your ignition/coil?

I ordered the upgraded EHC replacement kit with harness from Bigdog, for a customers '05 Ridgeback, and NO DIAGRAMS, NO PAPERWORK AT ALL! And a lot of the wiring colors are NOT the same as the original harness. He said they connectors are labelled, but the ink is smeared on a few of them. Damn, for $670 I expect to get FULL documentation! This is the first time in my 30+ years of being a tech that I've ever ordered a wiring kit for ANYTHING and not received documentation. Some of the connectors are different, and I think there should be another piece of harness. I've called Bigdog, and the guy said he doesn't have a diagram for the new harness. HOW THE HELL DID THEY PRODUCE IT THEN? And their tech support won't tell me anything because I'm not a factory dealer. What bullshit! So if you get a kit from Bigdog, beware.
If they get back to me I'll post what I find out.

Instead of this being your first post, had you come and did an intro and asked or did a little search, you could have saved yourself a lot of trouble.

I sort of figured that all the hype about BDM being Back would quickly turn to shit in a hand basket. Why can't they provide instructions, that is bullshit. Who cares if its his first or last post, the fact is he got screwed. Hell Wire Plus provides instructions, they aren't worth a crap but you can still install the kit with what they provide. Here we have all this hype that we can get parts for our bikes and even showed a video of how they drag the RIP through the mud, rain and even ran over it to show it can withstand all sorts of abuse. HA, You boys at Big Dog need to get your shit together. :oldnono:

That's why most people get screwed, they don't do any research, but he found this site after he had a problem, to bad it wasn't before the purchase.

:agree: However, in this case I have not seen or maybe I missed the post discussing that BDM did not provide instructions with the purchase of their RIP. I know that 99.9% of the first time Big Dog Owners that come on here want everything to be handed to them like yesterday. Or they come on here to bitch about the Bike not being what they expected. They never research the issues they are having nor do they ever let you know if they solve their issue or not. Some only visit once and stay gone, other come back only when they have additional issues.:boing: I have given away many parts used and some new (no Instructions) :oldlaugh: :job: but they are free and never to hear from those individuals not even to say thanks man I got the parts. I would expect BDM to be on top of their product, especially for a company that is trying to get going again. The part where the person calls and the tech tells him he can only provide info to dealers. Than why have a tech line and better yet why not refer the buyer to a dealer instead of scewing him . Not very good for business at all.

This person appears to be from Dallas, he should go see Rick at Strokers they should be able to get him back on the road.

I cannot count on one hand how many have purchased from them and can get support, or have not received instructions with the kits, including the calls that I put out to them and left messages being very specific that it was a RIP 2 purchased from them and they never called me back. I had heard they were having these units tested by a 3rd party but some still have problems. I called Jeff at deadonecustomes and explained the situation and he helped me, even though it was a RIP2, and I'll bet anyone if you purchase an ESC from him that if he don't pick up, he will call you back in 20 minutes. That's customer service and I will pay more for an item with that type of support.
I know you have helped many out on this site looking for parts and to that I say KUDOS to you:old2:
