RETIRED
Yes on the 07 Bulldog and then found out thru Curtis that it wasn't the ehc. No on the 07 and 09 K9's. So far nothing serious on the
2 K9's. I installed the wire plus in the Bulldog around 2010 and as far as I know it's still working.

Yes on 04 Mastiff. No problem until I was running around with the high beam on it started cutting out then I left the key on one day and try to start it with a low battery. Most of it might of been self inflicted. After replacing the battery I could not get more than 8 volts to the ignition module. Replaced with RIP 1 all is well.

A better question is why wouldn't you? I've never understood why, when something is a common problem that can and more than likely will leave you stranded, it's not fixed prior. I owned a 6.0 power stroke that everyone had problems with except for a few nay Sayers. I personally don't have time to sit on the side of the road when and if. I did the egr delete and a new oil cooler. Magically with 200k miles I was never stranded. I get it there are a few that still run them. But who wants to deal with something so finicky? Must have 12.8v, must have grease, must be perfectly clean. That's fine if it rarely gets ridden or you're retired and have time to mess with it constantly. I want to know mine is going to start and have lights and function properly without having to deal with bs just to keep something simple working.

EHC was replaced under warranty once and then in 2011 had a problem with it dieing while riding and decided to go with the PDM unit from bigdog. During the install of the PDM found a loose wire going to the coil. I still think that was my problem. But the PDM has worked great.....30,000 miles and still running.

Curtis sells their RIP, and Axels EHC. There's also an ESC out there also, so there are 3 choices unless you go Bill's route and go old school and rewire the whole bike, so there are lots of options, but if your not having problems, why worry

06 k9, haven't replaced it yet, but will at first sign of trouble, probably with the drop in from wild steelworx. Afraid doing it early would just make more issues and/or work. Enjoying the last 500 mi trouble free (knocks on wood). Don't want to sneeze and mess it up somehow.

I should add my electrical had significant rework before I bought it and I'm constantly discovering what was changed the hard way.

2004 Chopper...replaced with RIP kit.

I want to add I replaced mine because I was having issues related to the original EHC...Wasn't changed as a preemptive strike, but out of necessity.
