EHC may have died!

Great job Huw, I knew if anyone was going to ace this and do a meticulous job it would be you. Looking forward to riding on Sunday.

I just may take you up on the WP rewire offer. No true problems yet but I like to be proacitive and not reactive. Would be willing to let Curtis have my EHC as well as it is still functioning properly. We'll wait until we both have more free time.

Just to let you guys know that another riding buddy of Huw and I who rides an '06 K9 had someone eliminate his EHC as well a few months back. Did not go the WP route and did a Harley re-wire and chopped-up his bike. Lots of switches no longer work, move key switch onto battery side cover, WTF!! and he is still chasing electrical gremlins.

WP is the way to go for sure.

Thanks Curt for the compliment :D,

I'll be there to put in your Wire Plus when the time comes.

It would be best to do Wire Plus in the so called Winter we get when temperatures are closer to around 40 at night. There is less chance that we would want to ride. Although, if your EHC has never given you a problem, it may never give you a problem. And once you go WP we would have to consider cutting the wires to the EHC plugs leaving enough length so you can go back easily. I have found WP to be a very simple system and we can talk Sunday about the features you loose from the "Shuttle craft" EHC!

We could even consider replacing the Deutch Plugs with the miniature ones. I have both types and the miniature aren't so bulky.

See you Sunday. :D

Sounds like he didn't find the right mechanic to do the electrical work. Wiring a bike isn't that hard.

You will need to lose your hand controls so if he is trying to use the big dog hand controls with a harley wire you are going to lose 100 out of 100 times. Hand controls are 5v would need a relay to make it work.

Yep Eric,

I would have to agree.

The BDM hand controls would probably work fine in a 12 volt control system only if the current through the dome switches doesn't exceed a few hundred milliamps. Thus the need for a few relays to operate some of the higher current loads.

:confused:I am confused about the above two replies on this thread.......but I am happy to report that my WP has worked flawlessly for 7 months to the point that I don't even think about or am concerned about an electrical shutdown, etc. I have been in some really bad Louisiana rain storms and soaked to the bone. So, I have to say the shakedown period is complete. Just regularly scheduled maintenance for me now.:whoop::whoop::whoop:

Can anyone tell me anything about this kit? I am having intermitent issues & I believe it to be my EHC as well. My Dog fires up fine in the garage but I drive to work when it's colder she won't even fire just click click click...then suddenly she'll fire, or the hazzards blink with horn going off. On the way to work today my right blinker wouldn't work. I'm thinking of purchasing this if anyone knows anything about it I would greatly appreciate your opinion or experience with one of these. After reading Nuke ranghers posts which were great I'm not expremely excited about tackling that job he did. I like the idea of htis plug & play...
