EHC LIGHTS

I WENT OUT THIS MORNING TO START MY '07 CHOPPER DT, AND IT WAS DEAD. I JUMPED IT AND IT KICKED OVER, RODE IT TO THE DEALER AND HE SAID THE VOLTAGE REGULATOR IS BAD AND IT DRAINED THE BATTERY WHEN SHUT DOWN. I ALSO CHECKED MY BATTERY TENDER WHICH I KEEP CONNECTED AT ALL TIME IN THE GARAGE, AND IT'S "NOT" PUTTING OUT ANY VOLTAGE, JUST REPLACED BATTERY LESS THAN A YEAR AGO.
MY QUESTIONS ARE, THEY ARE PUTTING IN A HARLEY TYPE 32 AMP REGULATOR FROM DRAG (TWO PIN CONNECTOR), IS THAT OK AS THE OEM IS 32 AMPS.
ALSO MY EHC LIGHTS ARE BLINKING BLUE AND YELLOW, WHAT DO THOSE COLORS MEAN?
THANKS FOR ANY ADVISE.

First I am pretty sure you have a 40amp charging system. Second jump starting these dogs are hazardous. You have to be very careful when doing so. You say the yellow and blue leds are blinking, I am assuming they are blinking with the bike running? Also are you sure that the leds are blinking on the ehc or are they blinking on the ignition module. If it is the ignition module blinking then that's ok.

Yellow and blue light is showing that the front and rear cylinders are firing. Bigdog changed the voltage regulator from 40 amps to 32 amps. The 32 amps is recomended.

APPRECIATE THE HELP. DON'T GET WHY MY BATTERY MAY BE BAD, AFTER ONLY A YEAR.
I USED TO ONLY PUT THE BATTERY TENDER ON IN COLD WEATHER, BUT A BUDDY TOLD ME TO USE IT YEAR ROUND, IT'S 104 TODAY, AND I CONFIRMED MY TENDER IS NO GOOD, CHECKED THE OUTPUT AND GOT ZIP!!!
SHOULD THE TENDER BE CONNECTED WHEN BIKE IS PARKED?
I RIDE JUST ABOUT EVERYDAY OUT HERE, TURNED 30,000 MILES ON THIS '07.

My battery went bad in less than a year...it can happed. Make sure the Tender goes into the charged mode at some point.

NEVER TOOK NOTICE OF IT, BUT WILL NOW. THAT COULD'VE TAKEN THE VOLTAGE REGULATOR OUT.

If you ride nearly every day you should not have to use a tender . My buddy only rides his k9 on the weekends and does not have a tender and has never had a problem ( we ride year round as well ), i think it is only if you leave your bike parked for weeks on end .

Batteries are not perfect when they come out of the factory no matter what level of quality assurance systems they have in place.....$hit happens I guess. I have a few bikes and keep a tender on them whenever they are parked....always and I have had early batt failures too.....just part of it... Your VR was probably smoked during the jump start.....I think this is a no no for any bike....not just BDM's
