EHC ISSUE?

I installed jakes hid kit a couple days ago. this morning when i started the dog it stalled a couple times and never did that before(seemed electrical). i got to where i was going and shut it off. then wnen i went to restart again i turned the key on and dash lit but would no crank or fire. when i turned the key back off the dash stayed lit. i was able to bump start and ride home but had no brake lights,t signals, horn. when i got home it would not shut off using the key or run button. i pulled the plug wires to shut it off. i disconnected the batt and hooked it back up and it fired back up, but before it started, it started and stalled a couple times. is this going to be a issue because of the hid?

i'm kinda taking it that way too. has your bike been ok since the ehc replacement? i mentioned it to my dealer that i thought the ehc went bad and he disagreed with me. he told me his shop has had very little ehc issues on the new dogs. he also said they don't even stock em.
thanks,tim

I'm sorry,.....but I find that very hard to believe.:loony:

I'd find another dealer if that statement were true.

UPDATE.... just spoke with my dealer and he's saying the ehc is bad. he's also not covering under warranty because of the HID light(says hid caused this).they told me it specifically say in the bd book not to change lights because of voltage spikes. my answer to that, is what about everyone else running hid with no ehc issues? what about everyone with a failed ehc and no HID? WHAT BULLSHIT:angry::angry:.looks like i will be finding a new dealer:loony:
thanks, tim

Sorry Demo, But he did find a valid "escape" clause. It does say that in the manual. Nothing higher than 55/60W.
And not saying it did or didn't, but the HID might have pushed beyond the EHCs current limits. Doesn't take much, it's already at it's limits with the 55/60W. Jake would know.
Adding anything electrical, controlled by the EHC is tricky business, and I wouldn't suggest it. Enough Issues already.
Sorry!

Man that suck, I have an HID on my bike and had it on there when I had the EHC. I since have replaced my EHC with the Wire Plus Kit. :D I guess it depends on the dealer as to how picky they want to get. I would take the HID off and try another dealer maybe you can have better luck there. Just don't mention the HID to them.

Good Luck

little boo- dealer already documented it with bd so another dealer won't work. it sucks i have to go to somewhere else to get service done now but it seems like one way or another they always make it my fault, i've spent well over 50,000 with them, hell close to 3,000 just last week. i guess that's customer loyalty for ya!
KNOTSO-pm replied thanks!

Demo,
Try disconnecting battery and reinstalling the original headlight back in. The EHCs are designed with safety measures (internal auto reset breakers) against damage. It may work, and it can't hurt trying! If it works, just save the HID until you install the WP.
