EHC FRIED??

MY bike died on me today, I started it up and it run for a few seconds then bang dead. So took the seat of and noticed the cables of the positive terminal had fell of ( probably my fault ). I hooked the cables back on and saw the ehc
flicker a few times then it went dead. The hole bike is now dead not a single light working and no lights on the ehc.

Had a friend look at it whom is a elictric tech and he said their was power and ground to the ehc Power harness connector but he couldn´t read any power coming out from it.

This makes me think it is the EHC that took a huge dump on the day before I was supossed to get the bike registered :bang::bang::angry:

So what do you guys think, is there anything else that could cause this??

Could very well be. Make sure your negative terminals are fully grounded. Do any lights or anything work? Does your horn work?

All lights are out ,cant get the turrnsignals to flash eather.And speedo dont light up.
Dont know about the horn, why what about the horn?

just, I mean just had same thing happen to me 2006 K9, I ended up removing computer and cleaning and in doing this found a main ground wire that comes from computer, broken where it connected to battery.

Thanx guys for your ideas but I can read with multimeter that I have ground
coming into ehc power conector and i had the ehc disconected for sever minutes when we did the fault search.

Bruce. Do you mean the ehc have seperate cables other than the 2 harnes conectors and the pc link conector?

Five Five. I´m thinking there must have been some sparkes and arcing at the battery when cables came loose, and knowing the ehc is a sensetivep Piece
of crap it might not like those??

Seems I have to replace the EHC. I´m thinking of going with the PDM
unless someone can tell me were to find a new EHC.

So does anyone know were to find one?

Sounds like your ready to pull the trigger for an upgrade...I think PDM & WP kits are on back order so it might be awhile .... I had the same problem with my battery connection ...smoked the battery and melted the lead post down the side of the battery, I cleaned everything up verified all good connections and the EHC worked... I suggest starting another post if your looking to buy another EHC ... I believe many members have done the upgrade and still have there EHC's on the shelf in the garage somewhere.

Bud i am only a newbie, but i have been having simular problems. I found on one occassion the battery was not fully charged, another time it was a ground wire touching from and indicator.
These are the things i would check first

I HAVE AN EHC FROM A 05 CHOPPER, MY SECOND ONE. USED IT FOR A FEW MONTHS BEFORE I UPGRADED TO THE WP. PM ME IF YOU'RE INTERESTED.

There TWO things in life that have made me feel warm&fuzzy, buying the dog, and getiing rid of that POS EHC!......

do the ehc from 05 chopper fit my 06 ridgeback?

And yea i know the ehc sucks and i should get rid of it
but pdm and wp are in backorder and i need to get
the bike running.

Yep and a EFI bike will run off a carb EHC
