EHC - 2002 Mastiff

I just installed new handlebars with the help of someone who knows what he is doing (unlike me). After the bike was put back together, it woudn't start. No electric was getting to the coil. After testing, it appeared to be a bad connection in the EHC. After re-connecting several times, she finally fired up and we got connection all they way through, from the battery, the kill switch, the ThunderHeart ignition box, the EHC and the coil. We giggled the wires and the EHC, and she kept running.
My question is whether the problem may be a bad motherboard in the EHC? We had continuity all through the system except at the EHC: sometimes it was fine, and sometimes it was dead. It seems to run fine now, but I wonder what was wrong. It concerns me that it will just shut off down the road someday. Has this happened to anyone else\?

Give up the guesswork and take the leap to the re-wire without the EHC (thread last 2 days). Until I did I had one problem after another.

Gas: I think that was the problem. the red/white wire from the EHC to the coil was probably loose or wet or something. After a while we got contact, and she has run good ever since. I think I should have sprayed it, but I certainly will next time. Keep my fingers crossed for now. I put on some new bars that rise a bit higher and are a bit straighter, to accomodate my long arms.
