ECM Smoked

Hello,
Been quite a while since I have been on the site, needing some good info. on ECM. Stock ECM was replaced some years back on 2006 K9, installed Wire Plus and worked good for a few years. I understand there are multiple fixes for this problem, I would appreciate some help on this matter. Please let me know what the best fix is, it sure will be appreciated.

Beings you have the wire plus in there now, you will also need.the back bone harness. We also recommend changing out the charging system, and going with a Deka battery. 9 times out of 10, we have found that that charging system is the cause of EHC failure.

I appreciate the info., sounds like the BDM electricals aren't the way to go. What charging system seems to be the best?

WSW looks like they can provide everything needed for this project. How long have you been using their aftermarket parts? Like all of us, don't mind spending the money, just want best bang for the buck and some longevity. WSW is an excellent place for parts and advice along with bigdogpartskingpin.com. Did your EHC literately smoke or possibly do you have an electrical issue and are assuming the EHC went south again?
If your EHC is toast but your wires are in good shape you could also consider a MotoGadget M-Unit. I personally don't have one but have heard good things.

Thanks for the info. Mike. I am going with the WSW company, from what I am hearing the support is good and anymore that is kinda hard to find these days. Yes, actually started smoking from the hold down screw hole. First indication was warming bike up for a ride and it shut down completely, no power at all. Traced with ohm meter and found the block fuse to be bad, changed that out, turn key on to start, hit start button and started smoking, never had one do that before. So, here we go. I appreciate everyone's input, getting ready to order parts today.

You will be happy with your choice. The Electronix box is a simple install. Curtis is good people n is one of the fastest shippers I've ever seen.

Thanks for asking, no just received charging system, wiring harness and new ecm. Curtis had a little situation with parts, but all good.Probably start in a week, I am ready to ride the old K9 again, luckily I do have others to ride, weather has been too nice not to ride. All the information from you folks has been a great help.
