Ebay Question

I know lots of people on this forum use Ebay as a last resort to sell something. I now see Ebay wants access to your bank account to pay you and take money you owe. I personally don't like the idea. Anyone have your accounts linked to Ebay? If so are you worried about being hacked? Any way around this other than closing your Ebay account?

Open a Paypal specific account. You still have to link a bank account, but its simple to have your bank set up an "online only" seperate account. Transfer $ to it and use it to fund paypal. Paypal is owned by fleabay tho so....

You also have the option to add a credit card, through PayPal which I feel more comfortable with.

I once had a transaction go bad and I disputed through my card, and got my money back easily. PayPal wrote me a don’t do that again letter but who cares.

I do have a credit card on file with paypal. It is used when I purchase something on Ebay. It is not linked to my bank though. It sounds like Ebay is handling all the money now. I just sold my Mastiff seat yesterday. No money has shown up in my PayPal account like it used to. So I assume once Ebay has your banking info, they will put it into your checking? Not PayPal anymore?

Oh that’s a pretty significant change! Jeez I don’t think I would want them to have my bank information. But sounds like you may have to.

I had the same thing happen with paypal. That shit pissed me off. I got my money back then closed my paypal account down. I told them I don’t need that aggravation.

I have an account I opened with well under 2k in it so I'm not charged every month with less. I use that for ebay, because they want to be paid going in and their cut going out. I have paypal using the same bank account. I force the buyer to pay with a post office money order. Pay wants a cut for using their business so I avoid that with what little I get for the item sold. In the description I note to send either money orders/or wait for person checks to clear before it's shipped.

Bank is liable for any hack or fraudulent transaction so the sooner you notice it, the faster you're on the phone with the bank or they can wezz out of it, you drop the ball and do nothing more or less.

Sven does Ebay still let you do Money Orders and such? I looked at some auctions and it's all CC payment. No mention of any other type of payment.

Knows some things
I opened a separate bank account, with a debit card, to do all my on line transactions. It has saved me many times. As matter of fact, I'm waiting on a new debit card right now.

Correction. I haven't been on ebay for say 20 years or less, so I'm going back to as to how I remember. If I knew how to use craig's list for the 50 states, we are back to personal/post office checks... if craig's can be posted this way?

It has changed for sure. I may do it just to get the money that is owed me then cancel the account with Ebay. I really don't sell much on there anymore. Not worth it to me. Well thanks for all the suggestions.
