Ebay oil cooler

Toad,

I took one off my bike when I got it. It is a piece of billet with fins that are supposed to lower your temp of the oil.

Probably works to some degree but not what I would consider an actual oil cooler.

As a matter of fact, there are people who claim the K&P Engineering filter lowers their oil temps by that much as well. I don't have one installed on my pup nor do I have a temp guage to confirm if I did, but I guess it is possible to work.

You would probably be happier with the K&P Oil Filter as opposed to cover. More funtional and adds the bling factor as well.

Just my 2 cents

Looks to me like it's just a slip on sleeve that fits over the oil filter.

Yes, I did a lot of looking into filters and oil coolers and I just ordered the K&P S4 Black with Diamond cut. Nice bling.

Your not adding any oil capacity which is a negative. I'm sure it works to some degree. It's not going to work near as well as the frame tube design.

I have the BD oil cooler. I know it doesn't look as good as not having it, but I'll be happy about it when I'm sitting in traffic heading down to the beach.

You're right, sitting in traffic doesn't do much for an air cooled motor. Doesn't one of the members run an oil cooler hidden under the frame? Probably a fabricated set up I'm sure.

Last I checked air was the best transmitter of heat
So if this item has to pull heat out of the filter housing
Why would you not let nature do it the old fashion way
with air cooling the metal on the stock filter
Now if the oil was actually touching the aluminum housing like a oil cooler thats different
Then air can pull the heat out of the aluminum like all oil coolers work
Put a metal tube on the inside of your oil cooler so oil can't touch the aluminum and tell me how good it works
my 2 cents

I had a BD oil cooler on my K9 and did not like the proformace it offered or the apperance.
Less thatn 15 F. (something STUCK on the frame)

I had the oil fillter silp on cooler fin type.
Again temp reduction was less than 12 F.

Radiatior type:
Placement was on the inside of the L/H down tube above the oil filter. (see attached pic)

I went to a JAGGS 6 row radiator (J&P Cycles catalogue)
oil temp. was reduce by 30 F instantly.

I as every one-else does know an oil cooler now mater what type only works when moving.

Just saying:
Your bike your choice.
Proformance WILL always matter.
