Dunlop Rear Tire?

I want to get a rear tire ready for my Bulldog bagger. The size is a 250/40-R18 81V. Of course it has the AVON on it now, but I was thinking about going with the Dunlop Elite 3. I just don't feel good about the AVON since reading about past problems with them. I kinda like the tread patter better on the Dunlop. Anyone have any input good or bad about the Dunlop?

I've been running the Dunlop Elite 3 on my Chopper for about a year. I think it's a much better handling tire then the Avon. You can roll thru curves easier, high & low speed. I don't push it when it's wet, but I do feel safe getting down the road in the rain.

When it's time to replace tires, I'll probably go with another Dunlop Elite 3.

:confused:BB, why dont you think it will fit? Are the Dunlop sizes bigger than the AVONs'? I haven't compared the two side by side....

No issues fitting? Belt clears ok? Man my last Avon has about 6k and is done!!!

With the 250 rear there is little room to spare, but with the wire wheels it does fit under a stock fender with no belt interference.
The Dunlop does have an extra lip at the side of the tread where it transfers to sidewall. The next time the wheel is off I will replace the fender bolts with button top allens to get a little more clearance.

The Dunlops are in the picture on "My Garage" page, blow up the pic for a closer look.

It's all close but is satisfactory with or without passenger.

It sounds like I better do a little measuring. I just figured since the Dunlop was listed as the same size there wouldn't be a problem.

I too have the Dulope Elite 3s on both the front and rear of my chopper with about 1500 miles so far. Handling and grip to the road is good. I also put Dyna beads in at the tire change and my front was cupping so that may have made the most differance with any tire.

The fit on the front and rear was tighter than the Avons but they do fit with no issues.

I also have the Elite 3s on my RoadKing and think that they hold the road great.

Interesting...I thought the Dunlop 250 would be too big.

I have a Dunlop on the rear of my 03 chopper and I did have to shim the pulley a liiiiiiittle bit to get clearance from the lip on the tire.
