Shane, that looks great and is what I want to do. Did you use the Vulcan piece? I see you used the BDM motormount, looks good with it over that flat bar piece some of them use.

Very nice

Yes Ray its the same as the other guys are running...Vulcanworks....

We mixed and matched the finish parts with some from BDM and some that were included in the kit...

My painter filled the coils ugly spots up and sanded them clean then painted with the factory paint code....80 bucks for paint and labor...not too expensive a mod and it changed the left side of the bike 100%....Karata Open Primary is next on the mod list.

I did the same thing but I had a Harley barrel key ignition cut so it matches my Harleys probably one of the best looking mods for the money that can be done to a Dawg

Shane, that looks great I want to do this too. Do I need to get the full kit from Vulcan or just buy bits from them. Also you said you used some stock parts can you give me more info so I can get started on this project

For Panhead and Pompey; There have been a couple of different threads posted on this mod. I am also in the process of doing the Dual Coils, but I went in the same direction as another member (Gas Man?). If you look closely at Shanes picture you'll see his motor mount and dual coil bracket are made up of 4 different pieces (the Big Dog frame mount, the Vulcan motor mount, a spacer, and the dual coil plate).

I purchased a Yankee Engineuity top motor mount (#680010 - $209.00) it's 2 pieces, the frame mount piece actually bolts to the motor mount, you just can't really tell, and a dual coil plate from Cheasapeak Performance (CM507 - solid plain front). If you go the route I have you will need to have your top motor mount milled (at least I did and so have others) for everything to line up and fit.

It's a very cool setup (both types), and a very good looking mod. Make sure you look up the other threads on the "search" before you make your decision.

Good Luck

I've been kicking around the idea of a change, but, do you think your keys(if more than one on the ring) will hit your coils?:flag:

that's just about my only concern:cheers:

Well, I guess those with dual coils aren't doing any riding.....
I'd sure like to know how the painted coils hold up against keys flopping in the wind..:flag:

That's not my concern-I don't know about others, but I have more than one key on my bike key ring, brake lock, etc.

I wish I had more money.
If that is a concern you could get one of the key chains that has two loops on it. Keep all the bike keys on the chain. Disconnect the bike key from the chain when you are riding and when you get to where you are going just snap them back together. I think you could find one for a couple bucks somewhere. Some thing like these.

I've thought about that---maybe it's not a big deal-just would hate to scratch the shit out of the chrome or paint. The way I see it-anything attached to the key could cause marks-sorry that I even asked-
