duak 42 mikunis

I just purchased A 2004 Chopper that has dual 42 Mikunis on it. I purchased it as a salvage bike and have not had it delivered yet. Is anyone using this setup as I have read they are very hard to tune. Have run many snowmobiles with 3 and 4 mikunis and have had no problem keeping in tune. Hope to hear from someone as I have never seen this setup out on the road.

Of the 3000+ members here I don't think we've seen a dual Mikuni setup. I think MARV had something similar but not sure what it was.

Kit is made by made by Rivera. It has dual runners that converge to a single plenum. It is swept out and forward with dual chrome 42's on a chrome manifold. Will send a picture when I get it figured out. I have seen list price on kit for $1600.00. Would never buy it but would like to use it if I can tune it.

Marv and I also ran the dual throat weber carb. Purpledog is sporting dual edelbrocks right now I believe. This is a pic of the weber when I ran it long ago.

yep; i haven't had to tune 'em. I think they are running a bit lean for my taste though.

Both setups look similer to mine other than the brand of carbs. Jim are you satisfied with the performance of your setup? Both setups look nice!

The weber committed suicide after about a year on the bike, plus I spent the better part of that year trying to get it to run good.

I think those dual set ups look rude as fuck. I thought about the dual Mik before I opted for the PSI but the stuff I read back then basically said you will never get it tuned right

my weber is long gone also. Jwoolf had better luck with it than myself. moved on to a PSI carb and now my carb swappin days are over.

yeah i'm happy with my setup, thought they may have been jacked up once. turned out a case of shitty fuel I guess and later new plugs got me back to where i was. like i said, i believe them to be a little lean at times but i don't have time to worry bout it right now. i just been riding the sucker, taking what it's got to give basically.
colt gave it a ride dwn in FL, he'd prolly have a better idea how it might stack up against his, 'course we were both riding 2-up at the time...
