Well I don't have a K-9 but I have a Chopper. Only 4 inches shorter. I deal with 40-50 mph winds all day here in Palm Springs and never have to much of and issue. Last summers trip around the country Kaptian America and I battled heavy winds in Western Texas and all the way back to Kalifornia at speeds up to 100 mph on the bikes so guess it comes down to what you are comfortable with.

Just ride with what you are comfortable with...... Me I can text on the phone going at 95 down the highway but that's me! :D

I have dealt with alot of wind here lately in Arkansas but I've never slowed down much it does move the bike around a bit and it's almost impossiable to ride with one hand and relax . So your not alone I've been in a line of bikes and a gust of wind come up and you can see all the bikes move around.

Check your tire pressures and the steering neck bearings.

Will agree 100% with you on the front end moving around. Almost feels "light", like not enough weight sometimes in the cross/head winds. I know my tire pressures are on, so on to the neck bearings. I think my fall-away is good, but going to try tightening things up a bit and try it. I figured the fall-away would be set at factory or dealer, so just assumed it couldn't be far off yet, bike is pretty new. Just my .02

recently rode back home (Minnesota) from Wash. DC on the heels of some tumultuous weather following a number of tornadoes. The wind was constant 50 plus mph with gusts up to 70. I really noticed the wind on this ride (gas mileage dropped to 23 mpg on one leg) and was blown around quite a bit, just a every other vehicle was doing. Normally, the wind is no issue.

I have an '04 Chopper and I have a little trouble with the wind. A cross wind will push my bike to the side but I have never had any trouble with a wobble. The only wobble I have had is high speed turns will make the front end wobble....but it is the SouthArk roads doing that.

Any hard wind will bat most any bike around in my experience. Big windshields on harleys are sometimes the worst. Also bad behind and passing semi's on the fwy.

In my book the only 'good' wind is a tail wind, one right behind you 'blowing' you down the road. OR NO wind at all!

Tail winds- never a problem
Cross winds- over 35 mph suck
Head winds -if steady not much of a problem. If strong gusts, sometimes left and then sometimes right, like a few years a ago in Sturgis, can be the most difficult.
Like others have said, ride with what you are comfortable with. When my ol' lady started riding, I was cruising in strong winds one time. When we pulled off the highway she was basically white knuckled and terrified. I asked why she didn't just slow down and then I would notice her falling back and I would drop down a bit. Said she didn't think about slowing down. She was so worried about keeping up with me. Told her to never put herself in that position again. Now she makes her own choices and rides with confidence.

Side winds on the bagger slow me down. It is much better after losing the stock rims up front, but the large side area with the bags really push you around.

If I only rode on days with no wind and no more than 40% chance of rain, I'd never get my bike out of the garage in Chicago!!!
