Drive Pulley Problem

Hey folks, I've got an issue with my drive pulley and was looking for some help. After a ride last week I noticed a vibration that progressively became worse throughout the day. After parking the dog at home, I noticed that the belt had moved over to the right on the drive pulley and was rubbing on the belt guard. I was hoping it was a simple alignment issue, but after realigning the rear wheel, the belt will move back right into the guard within four turns of the rear wheel. I wasn't able to remove the pulley cover yet due to my exhaust being in the way and simply ran out of time...the pulley itself looks in great shape...but its LOOSE as hell!!! I didn't know if there was a common occurrence with the pulley nut loosening, or if this sounds more like a bearing issue? Any ideas or prior experiences?? I plan on taking the exhaust off and getting that pulley cover off as soon as I get home and I'll update then. Thanks for all the help!

Don't know of any pulley issue but it is possable the nut is loose. Think from what your describing about the pulley being "loose as hell" If it was the bearing you would probably be loosing fluid.

The nut backed off the drive pulley on my K-9. It allowed the belt to rub the pulley cover on the trans.

If thats the case, you'll need to closely look at the splines on the shaft & pulley when you take it off. I was lucky, the shaft splines were fine along with the bearings. The pulley itself had some spline wear. I ordered a new pulley, quad seal, drive seal & nut directly from Baker.

It should be a snug fit when you put the pulley on the shaft.
