I installed a set of silver braid covered spark plug wires on my Harley Dyna Wide Glide that look great. Do any of you know where to get a set for the S&S 117 for Big Dogs? Or, does anyone make a decorative cover or spiral wrap to cover the plain ole black wires? Thanks.

I was thinking of doing the same.... I know Trotta uses them on some of his bikes, but not all of them ... he's a bling guy and I'm wondering if there may be performance issues - like gas mentioned..

I'll see if I can come up with a set

Several people on this forum have tried and failed. If you have the stock ignition its even a bigger issue. You need to keep the RFI supression type cables in a 8.8mm dia.

You can get them at High performance custom cycles they have either type. I recommend the silver looking wires they look the best.

bdmridgeback has Taylor Wires (8mm if I remember - got them through Drag specialties I think) He said has never had a problem. I think the problems arise if you use a solid core wire and not a resistor wire. Also the braided ones have problems too. If you stick to a wire just like the stock, hopefully you should have no problems.

I was ready to purchase a set of color wires to match my bike but after reading posts here, I called Big Dog and was told altering or changing the wires would void the electrical warranty completely. So much for that idear.

I tell you what they sure designed these bikes to be finicky when using anything other than "Big Dog" components.

spark plug wires..

i was told by a big dog mechanic, that the thick wires i bought on e-bay wouldn't fit my efi...i'll sell them for 20 bucks to who ever has a carburator...was told they were too big...

I've had some nice braided wires on mine for over 10k now without any problems

There is another thread on here about these. I think mine are Sterling Chromite.
I'm getting ready to get a new set because of some discoloration

So much for warrantys, I never had one anyway but I had thought about making the wires look better, after reading here, nah!! I am not much except for Wire plus, on aftermarket parts that make it actually run, well except again, the 1400 edelbrock carb ( sweet ) on the old car we are restoring for grand daughter.

Yes, it's perfectly fine. You can pm the owner and he might help you out. If memory serves me correctly, he built a lot of his parts.
Didnt mean to offend you.
