I was given this link for a service manual and also found it by googling. I tried several times trying the free download tab (says 15 minutes), when I click on it it says wait to download and a clock counts down in seconds.
But where is the file???? I searched my PC and can't find it. It doesn't seem to realy download???

Has anybody else downloaded form this site? If so am I missing something? Link below

I have had NO success either in this site  Keep searching Google and eventually you will find it (I should have kept the web site grrrr) It is quite a big file and comes in about 15 parts/chapters... then I printed it out and made myself a nice book with it.

Thanks I will keep searching. I purchased a 05 service manual from BDM before they went under. That manual sucks, totally lacks detail for many many areas. I see guys posting PDF chapters from manuals of later bikes, and the detail is what you would expect.
Maybe I need to buy a manual for an 08 and take what I can as I am sure much would relate to my 05?
Same engine, trans, brakes etc I would think?

Ken which part in specific are you looking for?
Rob,
At this time it was nothing specific. Just with winter approaching I wanted to tear down, inspect/replace whatever was needed. Also was considering re-painting tins and powder coating the frame a diff color, (which would mean 100% disassembly). My manual was so vague, with little detail on almost all topics. The only parts of my manual that came close to a real service manual was the Primary and Fork assy, and even that was vague compared to the '08 Manual.

Now that I downloaded the '08 manual, the only things I am specifically missing is anything related to '05 that was updated on '08's.

such as...
  • Electrical (if '05 differs from '08)
  • Engine top end (since the '05 has TP rocker covers)
  • Sheet metal removal installation (probably not a biggy, but with the '05 dual tank, it sits so low you really can't see what needs to be lossened or access to it.
  • Carburation ( I do have the S&S specs for the Super G so prabably not missing much there). But an exploded assy view as it relates to the Bigdog would be helpfull.
That's probably about it

I download from there all of the time with no problems.... and in fact the shop manuals for '02 thru ''08 are also hosted there.
Make sure you just click ONCE on the "Free Download" button (as pictured below) and wait out the "wait time" and follow the screen prompts:

:flag:
That's what I have tried many times... the wait for download clock runs down to 0, but never get any promps or anything. I have high speed internet, but have left the screen up for an hour and never get a promt for downloading????

I downloaded from this site with no problems. Once you click on the free download and the clock ticks down to zero you have to click on the free download button again. Then it will start.

Hmmm Ken, in your 2005 Manual at the top of the pages do you see Revision A listed which came out in Sep 2005? Not sure if you have an old 2005 Manual or newer.

Mine shows revision A. It does cover many areas... but I guess all I am saying is I saw the '08 manual is much much more in depth.
I would be more specific, but since I am not wrenching on it at the moment, it's hard to communicate the lack of detail.

Wait... here's one, recently I was curious about my neck bearing adjustment as well as removal/install and torque of rear set screw. My manual did not cover any of this. Got that info from this forum instead. Also compare the chassis section on the '08 to the '05, the '08 shows exploded views of every detail, the '05 does not

Yeah I agree with you, it looks like in 2007 they went more into detail about what you just stated about neck bearings.

Yup! it works. The trick is to click on the download button once again after the clock reached zero.

Hey that little TRICK Worked! I am sure I clicked before, but most likely double clicked. Yep one click after the clock goes to 0!!!
Thanks,
Ken
