I know this is a dated thread but was looking at a better "bling" backing plate. One question I have is that the part number mentioned in these threads is 1258 which is for 00-06 Twin CAM. Is that what 117 Big Dogs use as a reference? I have the 107 and I think mine shoud be 1259 which is the big twin referenced part. AM I wrong on this?

Also, I saw it with the PowerVent option. Does anyone use this or is it only for 107's?

Yeah 1258 is the correct one. And most of the newer dogs don't breath thru the heads where the power vents go. They breather differently... so I don't know anybody running those powervents.

That is correct that would only be for the 107's like yours because they breathe through the front of the heads unlike the 117 which breathes from the rear of the head.

Since the 107 is still a true evo I think the only difference in the evo kits is going to be if you want to spend the extra coin on the fancy breathers or just the crossover tube. I would call Doherty themselves and ask what the difference is between the kits.

I don't get it, 84-92 evos = 219.00 93-98 evos = 299.00 Why the difference? Pics look identical. can't a guy catch a break?:bang:

I know thats why I suggested to just call them it doesn't make sense. They are decent guys to talk to I called them a couple time and asked them a couple questions and turned around and bought it from vickie after I got the info.

LDO, the difference is not in the year but if you look closely you will see that the description states twin power vent kit, from the pics I see that instead of a crossover tube they have the indiviual breathers for each head.

Sh8kr,
yeah, but the picture of the kit for 219 (84-92 Evo) doesn't have the crossover tube in it, it shows two vents on it. Must be a mistake on their ad.

UPDATE::::

So I called Doherty and talked to them about the filter kit for my bike and the pics and PNs listed on their site.

Sure-nuff, their stuff was wrong. What they had listed price wise was for the kit with the crossover tube, NOT the one with power vents.

Figured he might sell me what I wanted (kit with vents) for the cheaper price since it is listed that way on their site...

No such luck.:confused:

Still shopping.:D
