Dog Trouble

Energy One
Was getting ready for Fayetteville trip this coming thursday and went and got a new rear tire. Got ready to leave and the dog started but died and as soon as it died the horn started beeping and the lights started flashing. I assumed it was the battery. Checked the battery and it tested 12.6V I know I need 12.8V to start. Buy a new battery and charge it. Checked the new battery and its putting out 13.2V and its 310cca. As soon as you turn the key on the horn starts beeping and the turn signals are flashing. Check the EHC and the power up light (last on right side) is flashing yellow. Also the air relief valve light is flashing red. I don't have air ride. The left turn signal light is flashing yellow and the right turn signal light is flashing green. Sure could use some help. BBBQ is my favorite trip of the year and its not looking good right now.

Alan try e everything. Want to meet you Friday for the ride. I would pull the EHC and add dioelectrical grease just to rule the connection out. Cheap easy thing to try.
Mine did the exact same thing but it was a dirty battery cable. But you have already taken care of that.this sucks!!!! EHC's suck

I'm definitely no expert but those symptoms are almost always bad battery / low voltage related. I agree with others on rechecking all connections. Good luck and please keep us posted.

Going to take it to Rodneys in Little Rock in the morning. I've checked everything I can think of. Haven't removed the EHC yet. Ran out of time tonight. I'll let Rodneys look at it in the morning. Its a 300 mile round trip....but I'm getting desperate.

I would make sure you didn't miss one of the wires on the positive side of the battery. The symtoms you described are what the bikes does on a bad battery but you never know. Hope is something simple. See ya next week.

Damn

That's how it always goes, right before the big ride something begins giving you hell. I hope you square it away, looking forward to meeting you on the ride. EHC is evil hope it works out. See you next Friday.

Did you disconnect and/or move any wires when the tire was changed?

Dennis
Got to give thanks DrBarnhart......he asked if we moved any wires when replacing the tire. After reading his post I got to thinking about the liceanse plate wire that runs next to the rear break caliper. Went back outside to the trailer (dog was already loaded for 300 mile trip to Little Rock) and looked at the liceanse plate wires. The wires were pinched between bolt and caliper and grounding it out. Moved the wires and all is good again :whoop: Thanks for all the replies, you guys are great :2thumbs:

You're very welcome, just glad I could help! :2thumbs:

Have great ride!!!

PS FYI... The blinking "power up" light on the EHC was telling you there was a short in that circuit. :D

Glad you found the issue it and its going to help me get another fellow dog going also. He had the same problem so I know now what to look for. His battery is 350cca and at 12.94 volts. I know he had to get his tank painted and he put it on and then had the same issue as you did. Get this his name is Allen also. Go figure:loony:
