I was taking the dog to my garage in Indiana to do some post-Daytona maintenance. About 50 miles into the ride the engine starting running really loud and harsh, almost like it was out of time or had a blown head gasket or something. I lost all power and had to pull over in Gary IN (about the worst possible place to break down). The starter was completely dead, nothing at all.

I don't want to jump to conclusions and say it was an EHC problem, but I did ride it through the rain for 10 hours on the way back to Daytona and have been having the usual ghosts in the machine like blinking lights, stuff turning on when the bike is off. Any ideas?

I suggest you pull the tank and go thru the wires... do the shrink wrapping as listed in the how to.

Also, check your charging system... make your CB isn't poped as well.

Gas be right check the circuit breaker because of the recall if you have not had the upgrade done you can't run on battery very long and water is our enemy ( for the bikes ):bang:

The irony was i was taking this thing back to get the electronics squared away. The bike ran like a champ for 3000 miles, but the last 40 did it in. I'll see what I can find out and report back

Don't forget the connector at the EHC. Its hard to dry out because the harness will hold water in it also and when you re-connect more moisture will get down into the connector and short out between the pins. Thats been my biggest problem with rain. Good Luck!

figured it out, it was a bad voltage regulator cable. bike wasn't charging properly which threw everything out of whack
