Dog shuts down in the rain

I was at the Lehighton Bike Fest yesterday. It started to rain alot so we decided to head back home. 10 minutes into the ride the bike started cutting out and eventually shut off. I let it sit for a while and it started up but died again. I then had to trailer it home. I'm thinking it's the EHC. Any ideas?

Well before I would condemn the EHC....it sounds like water got into some place it shouldn't have. If it always ran fine until then that would be my guess.

I was there with alphadog. We left as it started to rain for our 2 hr ride to Jersey in the pouring rain. NOT FUN!!! I was worried about those same types of issues. Made it home and the only issue I have is the neutral light won't go off. We will see what happens in a couple days when the dog dries off. Took me three hours this morning to clean her up. Overall that's one tough ass dog!

My 08 pit bull does this also. The fix is to remove my air filter and run it open. Every time it rains I have to take the filter off. I am not sure if you are running a pre filter but if you take that off it will also help it. As soon as mine gets wet from the road spray it can't breathe

The same thing happened to me on a ride through Florida. Thought I had water in fuel. Pulled tank off to inspect and clean. Turned out wiring harness along backbone of frame had worn places due to vibration. Exposed bare wires. They didn't short out till they got wet from rain. liquid tape and duct tape over that. solved problem.

RIDE IT HARD!!!
These Dogs are far from water proof from the factory! There is a thread on here how to go about water proofing all the conectors. Had to do it to mine. No problems so far.

:cheers:I must be lucky because mine is waterproof and trust me when it rains in Louisiana it dumps buckets of water on you!

That was some rainstorm. Add that to the dog bogging down from the rain sock on the spike air cleaner. Nice looking but useless!!!

I would dry out and put dielectric grease all the connectors

No issues with the bike running in the rain. Put rain socks on the Dual Runner and go.

Front end gets a little squirrely when I have the travel pack on the passenger seat and tent, sleeping bag n bed roll on the luggage rack. It slipped out on me twice going around a corner in the rain and let me tell ya it'll scare the Sh*t out of ya...

When I rode up to Bike Week up in Sandusky I to rode in rain for an hour or so. Couldn't see in front of you at times. I made it there with no problems. The two days I was there I had no problems. Then two months later sitting in the hot...hot sun it wouldn't start. Figure that!

I think I found what was causing it. There is a clip on the top of the transmission that is the neutral light ground and turn signal timer. No covering on it.

I run the stock filter housing with the louvered vents and a K/N filter lightly oiled, also ride in the rain a lot and never had filter issues
