I just had my gas tank painted on my 08 Mastiff EFI I put the tank back on and I could hear a loud sort of humming sound from what seemed to come from the gas tank. If the bike was on the kickstand leaning to the side it would not make the sound. Once I would straighten the bike the sound would start and it kept on while riding. It did it for a short ride now the bike will not start, I'm thinking it's the fuel pump. Any help is appreciated

so the pump doesn't run momentarily after the run switch is pushed?

After u turn the switch on and the speedo finishes the sweep and you hit run you should hear the fuel pump run for like a second or two. If you do not hear the pump running it just may be bad. Disclaimer-There is a relay in the loop that should be checked as well.

It just gives. A click sound. Batery. Is fully charged.

The hose on the pump inside the tank is probably cracked. HD was having that same problem with there pumps a few years back.

Just went back to garage, tried starting it turn key to on. Hit the run button and pump seems like its staying on not just for 2 seconds. Until I turn it off.

that may be good actually if what your hearing is the relay. A sensor failure should have been anounced by illuminating the check engine light. Considering the strange buzzing sound coming from the tank area I would suspect the pump. Who did the install after painting?

Do you have enough fuel in the tank?

Don't turn on the bike without fuel or very low fuel level in the tank or the pump will burn out from running continuously.

MMmmm... should run,priming the injector rail then shut off.

Yea it has fuel and I installed it myself. Ran fine for about an hour total ride time other than the humming sound.

It's a fairly common Walbro fuel pump and it could have just failed or locked up.

I got the pump out. It is a Walbro F20000107 fuel pump.
Did a search on the web and they seem to run about $108.
Even some lawn mower shops come up in the search saying you can get one.

You may need to open the tank again, remove the pump and test it out.

For some reason it's not building up pressure.
1) Low on gas
2) Crack or leak in one of the lines.
3) Clogged filter on end of pump
